Lost 1/5/05

She clearly stated that it was from the MAN she loved, whom she had killed. So I think we can rule out children or loved ones.

The DC3 seemed to me to be higher quality than just a children's toy. It also looked like it might be made out of pewter, which would indicate a keepsake item or a gift to an adult.

Another point to ponder, I don't think the US spends that much time and effort trying to track down a bank robber in another country, unless she also went on a murder spree. Also many countries are reluctant to extradite people who may be facing capital charges in the US (always a possibility if someone died durring the robbery). Because if you are making someone a most wanted criminal in Australia for a crime commited in the US, you have to be putting a pretty fair amount of effort into the pursuit.

In short, I don't think the robbery is the main reason why she was being hunted. I think someone else was pulling strings to get her/get back at her, probably because of the aformentioned "Man She killed, who she loved". I suspect weathy powerful connected parents most likely, probably objected to son's marrage/attempted marrage to Kate. He died somehow in the conflict, both Kate and X's parents blame her for his death.

At least that's my suspicion.
Interesting points.

I'll add that I'm getting the impression that she is exactly as the "marshall" said she was: VERY dangerous. Took out 3 guys, used 2 guns at the same time, is a tremendous liar and is adept at slight of hand. Add in that she is a knockout. That equals the perfect con artist. She has a chink in the armor somewhere but we haven't seen it yet. Not wanting to kill isn't it.

Other stuff:

I like the triangle between Jack, Sawyer & Kate. It works for me and gives the show a place to focus if need be. We've got Sayid + whoever. The asian couple. Locke, Boone & Shannon. Charlie and Claire. There are others but those haven't been given much screen time as of yet.

The distinction between the small groups is great. It's almost like watching a different show with the same theme when they zone in on just one. With a format like this they can keep the show running for a very long time. Certain characters can come in and out of the spotlight with no loss of story. Jack seems to be the character always in the mix and Kate is usually in there somewhere to give us at least 2 people we'll see every week but the rest can be cycled as needed.

This show is great. I can't wait to rewatch it on DVD in widescreen. I hope the transfer is good.

Since Smallville has been on hiatus I have been watching Lost live in HD instead of PVRing it and watching it after Smallville. I may have to start PVRing Smallville and continue to watch Lost in HD. It does make a big difference.

I just got caught up on the series, watching the last four episodes in one sitting. Wow.

AintItCool has the flashback rundown:

1.13 Boone & Shannon
1.14 Michael & Walt
1.15 Charlie II
1.16 Sawyer II?
1.17 ?
1.18 Hurley

So, Hurley (Hugo) gets the last flashback. I've seen a lot of speculation on just what he was, but after his comment of 'I'm know as something of a warrior', I'm leaning towards Gamer :)

What I want to know:

OK, the guy that kidnapped the pregnant girl: That.. that must be the French crazy woman's son, Alex? Now that the group has guns, do they start forming more search parties to kill this SOB? And do they dare give Sayid and Sawyer guns at the same time?

The cable going off into the ocean. It's too small to be a phone cable, I presume, and I don't think it could be a power cable. It might simply be a lure, to trap other castaways like it did Sayid.

What caused her to kill the other people? Maybe they were some black-ops disease researchers? That might explain the polar bear: it was a research subject of some kind. She mentioned 'the bears', so maybe there are a lot more somewhere. What do you use bears for, though?

Of course, she is crazy. Anything she said or made has to be taken with a large chunk of salt.

The toy plane.. hmm. Kate's too good at being deceptive. Her crying jag could have been faked, to distract Jack again from something else in the case.

Boone and his sister? Hmmm. Ewwww. Maybe the song reminds Boone of something. Maybe there was some unpleasentness in France? Maybe Boone's jealous of Sayid, or maybe he knows something about his sister. Or, given one of Shannon's early comments, maybe he just jealous of Shannon. We should find out tomorrow.

Can't wait to see what Locke has been excavating, and hiding from the others.

Why would Ethan (Alex?) kidnap her, specifically? Is psychic guy full of it or was he the real thing?

I don't see any "ew" in Boone and Shannon's relationship -- he's acting like nearly every other big-brother-protecting-his-little-sister that I've ever seen.

I had the pleasure of watching some HD Alias (last season) and an ep or 2 of Lost in HD and it was sweeeeeet.

I'd buy one of those DirecTV/TiVo/HD units that are going for like a grand but I'm waiting for the price to come down. It's really amazing the amount of detail that is lost when the sides get hacked off.

I know what you mean. Now that Dish has dropped the price of thier HD/PVR box I am considering it. It would be nice to have both Lost and Smallville in HD.
