A decent episode. All the same suckiness is still, well, the same.

The Others = suck.
Jack = suck. (Boy, the writers really screwed around with his character...) :\
Juliet = suck.

They all keep their mouths shut and don't tell each other anything... and then the one time when someone is supposed to keep their fat yap shut, they go and tell an Other that there's someone new here that might know how to get off the island. Okay, dumbasses, does the island make you stupid?

Oh, and the French woman...all that dynamite, what does she have going on?
That part of the episode rocked.

- Rousseau! What brings you here?
- Dynamite. You?

Heh. :D

I love how Locke can, with a calm smile on his face, tell you that he's come to ask you to kill someone for him, and somehow make it seem like there is a deep spiritual meaning behind it.

2) Locke's dad acted almost nothing like we've seen him in all the previous flashbacks. Didn't seem like much of a con man.

I don't know about him being out of character. It seemed like a logical progression of his character to me- after all, the last time we saw him, he went to desperate measures when he felt his back was against the wall- shoving his son out of an 8 story window. Now that he's in a similar situation- where everything around him is unraveling, and he's got no power to make changes- he's snapped yet again, only this time he's bound and unable to even take physical action.

Glad to see the resolution to this story, although I'd have liked it a little more if the guy had been able to come to the realization that he wasn't actually in Hell already, and that his actions were going to have significant consequences- after all the crap he's done, I think he needed to suffer more. Does that make me evil? :heh:

As Hand of Evil pointed out- what exactly does Rousseau want with all that dynamite? I'd really like to see some of her story (flashback wise). What's she done so far this season? She knows her daughter is alive, she now knows who and where she is, she knows where the Others live (she knew of the Relay Station, and I think she knew of the housing complex- I forget now exactly how they got to the village- possibly she knows where else they might hang their heads), now she's picking up explosives. Hmm...

I still say, we are going to find out Benry and Locke are related! ;)

It still feels "off" to me. Why didn't he try to con Sawyer into releasing him and maybe trying to escape together? That would seem like the logical move to me. Instead, Locke's dad seemed to almost turn into an 'anti-Other,' spouting too much information for his own good. It was almost like he wanted to give Sawyer a reason to kill him. Maybe he really believed he was dead and in hell...or maybe something else is afoot.

I'm thinking about what Ben said and what's come before. Ben claimed that Locke had brought his father to the island through the 'magic box.' If that's true (and I know it's something of a dangerous assumption, considering the source) then let's consider what other Lostaways may have brought into being through the magic box...I'm thinking specifically of Jack's dead father, Hurley's imaginary friend Dave, Kate's horse, Eko's dead brother. The only borderline "real" one of the lot that could possibly somehow be transported to the island is the horse. The real, living, breathing John Cooper somehow being brought to the island doesn't seem to fit with the pattern.

Of course, Cooper did say that he'd been rammed from behind on a freeway shortly before waking up a captive on the island, so maybe he is dead like Jack's father and Eko's brother. But that then begs the question of whether or not Locke or Sawyer can actually kill someone who's already dead ;)

Ben played Locke like a fiddle in this episode. I don't know why he would want Sawyer to kill Cooper, but he definately got Locke to do that. One thing about Ben we all have to remember, the guy is a master at playing mind games. Nothing he does is by accident.

Another great episode. The only part I had a problem with was Sayid telling Kate. He's smarter than that. Jack reacted just as I had envisioned, Kate did exactly what I thought she would, and Desmond is showing that he is smarter than he had previously showed us.

One thing that really disturbed me was the seeming acceptance of the Others to watch (and desire) Locke to kill another person in cold blood for whatever reason, and their disappointment when he didn't do it. For a group of people that likes to portray the crash survivors as the bad guys, and attempts to paint themselves as the victims and moral compass, this attitude really struck me. Hopefully they delve more into it, but all it does is reaffirm to me that the Others are as contemptuous a lot as I've felt and hope they all get what's coming to them.
