Lost Monsters

I always find it interesting when a monster pops up on a list or in an art gallery, yet isn't in the product that listed them. Many have gone on to appear in later products (such as the sea drake, spriggan, and slaughterstones), but others still have yet to appear anywhere, to the best of my knowledge. Can anyone account for the following? Am I missing any others? Care to speculate on their fates?

You probably know this, but the Spriggan's been in D&D since 1983's "Monster Manual II".

I was referring to the fact that it appeared in the MMII art gallery, but didn't actually show up in 3E until the Fiend Folio. Same goes for a few others from that gallery.

I could be wrong--it's just a guess on my part--but I always thought the "brawny monster" evolved into the gray render.

A similarity definitely exists between the two.

Is'nt the Ghaur a type of Tanar'ri linked to Baphomet?

They appear in at least two different FR books, I think 'Monsters of Faerun' and 'Lost Empires of Faerun'.
