I was taken out of the story line when Sa'id had the bottle rockets....HELLOOOO??? in the post-9/11 world those wouldn't be allowed on the plane. I could understand perhaps finding flares or a flare gun within the emergency equipment on the plane.
Well Sayid (finally got around to checking how his name is spelled) did say that 'thank heavens for fireworks smugglers'. Unlikely? Pretty much...but not impossible. I'm williing to let that one slide.

Kate and Jack - puuullleeeaasse!! UGH, it's only been 8 days...at bit early for a "romance" to be budding.
Well, I'd say it's too early for a serious relationship to be growing...a mutual attraction, particularly under duress? Frankly, I'm suprised they've managed to fight it this long. Now, having a long running relationship after things calm down that will last? That's the hard part.

I do find it interesting, with the exception of the Korean couple, everyone is alone. Yes, there is the father/son, but they just met and aren't really a relationship. hmmmmmm - wonder if this "means" something or if this is just what the writers wanted to keep the storyline interesting.
Well, I think the suggestion that everyone on the show is metaphorically 'Lost', as well as physically is a good one. They all appear adrift in their lives. Locke was the first one to be found, I think.
As for Walt and his son, I think last night, they bonded. Look at his son when his father suddenly takes charge....that's pride and awe. That's a 'Whoa! My dad is cool!' look. I loved that scene to bits. Walt went from just another survivor to a domain expert in 10 seconds flat.
You also forgot the sister-brother, Shannon and Boone. They may not like each other, but they have each other.
Speaking of Shannon, didn't she still screw up? Yes, she lit the rocket...but wasn't she supposed to do something with the transmitter? On the other hand, I guess she did it, since Sayid got some sort of reading. Maybe they just decided it was too time consuming to show her actually doing it.
The big question: who hit Sayid, and why? I don't think it was Sawyer. He's an ass, as I've said, and I think we're meant to suspect him...but mostly because we don't like him. I'm very, very curious to learn more of his character, and find out why he acts the way he does. What was the meaning of the letter we saw him reading on the beach a few days earlier? I think he's a Chaotic Neutral character in the worst possible way. He cares only for himself...but was he always that way? He strikes me as the unbending tree in the hurricane...and from hints of next week, he'd rather break than yield.
