The bearded man directs four soldiers to remove the slain General from the field of battle. Oddly enough, he was not burned by the fireball at all. Larissa heard that they would resurrect him later.

The soldier that was officiating provided the names in an appreciable tone. But he frowned when Larissa made a negative insinuation about the General’s character. “They knew the risks and stood by him. They do not have family’s… not unless you count their brothers in arms.”

The soldier shook his head, “How would I know? I was only told to drop the flag to start this blood bath.”

He turned to go look for an officer or someone else of higher rank.

You were standing on the blood stained parade ground, a couple of dead horses and potentially the best 4 archers this army had lying where they were slain. The 1000+ soldiers watching did not look exactly friendly, but they maintained discipline and stayed within ranks so far.

Larissa looks at the befuddled official in frustration, then turns to survey the bloody field. Her Rornish blood screams to her of the wrongness of this moment, of a leader carted off to a resurrection even as the first flies begin to settle on the burned and bloodied corpses. This will not stand.

"I came here today to help settle a matter of honor," she tells the assembled crowd. "As did those fallen on the field before you. They fought with honor, and deserve to be honored in return. Death did not come to them like a skulking burglar, stealing them away in the night. It came to claim them proudly, amid the din of battle, and they faced it with blades in their hands and fire in their hearts. I will not quit the field until I see them given their due! Who among you will form their honor guard? Step forward, and see that they receive the last acclaim this world has to offer them."

Eanos has to fight not to bolt and blink after Blancher, but he knows that only ends with him in a cell, and no justice.

Instead, he silently thanks Larissa for her healing and both she and Heinrich for their aid in a matter that had no impact on them.

When the spiritual warrior turns her call to the stand, Eanos moves to her side. He's seen the undercurrent in the soldiers. If the honorable warrior's actions might turn a tide and bring some of them around ...

"Aye, listen to the woman!" he calls out. "We only killed to answer the blood debt your General called for, clearly twisted inside by that running coward," he points to the retreating figure of Blancher. "Join us in putting your men to rest with honor, and we can maybe some of us exit this place with a reason to keep our heads up!"

[sblock=ooc]I'm having the same issues with rollers. Eanos with his Silver Tongued Haggler ability can boost his Diplomacy to +19. He's happy to use that to try to turn the crowd to supporting Larissa's actions.

Eanos is actually after a Nat +2 necklace, but at this point, he won't reach for it to avoid undercutting Larissa's position. Maybe if this actually works, they'll give it him as a peace offering. ;) [/sblock]

An officer breaks from the ranks that were near the area where the general was carted off through. He was issuing orders to a few sergeants and junior officers as he strode purposefully towards you.

His was a mature looking warrior and was wearing the rank insignia of a Colonel.

“Thank you for your concern, but we can handle our own without your assistance. You have won this day, killing some of our own. According to our orders and the General’s honor, we shall not exact retribution.”

“By right of contest you would be entitled to take our banner if you represented another military unit. However, seeing as you are… not military, I can arrange spoils from the General’s gear or coffer.”


Meanwhile orders were being given by the other officers and NCOs to start dealing with the dead. A horse trainer was summoned to try calming down the General’s mount as well. The shock of the sudden defeat of their champions had worn off as military discipline took hold.
