Night 6: Outskirts of the Kekuku Pines

[section] After finally settling down as the dinner fire burns out, rest is welcomed by all. The previous day was quite long and weary, climaxing with the stirge encounter leaving the party one member short. The temperature cools off and the humidity drops, and everyone is much more comfortable at night then the dreadful conditions during the hot sweaty day.

Drayvin takes an extra watch for Seros, but they all rest long enough to where no one's body is negatively impacted the next day. Night passes without interruption, a welcome blessing for the heroes. Whoever's turn was on duty was treated to a peaceful symphony of pine forest sounds.[/section]

Day 7: Morning at the outskirts of the Kekuku Pines

[section]As dawn begins to break, Drayvin wakes everyone up. There is a bit of a chill in the air this morning, and it looks to be a partly cloudy day, with ample sunshine. A hint of a breeze ripples through the pine needles, helping the adventurers to rouse themselves. For the most part, they all feel refreshed except for poor Seros, who suffered the worst of it from the stirges.... except for Caius of course.

From what they can figure, if the party is able to travel at a decent pace all morning and throughout the day, they will reach Venza before sundown! On the road all that remains is the travel through Kekuku Pines, which includes Kaz Bridge, then the Greater Venzan Countryside. That leads to Baron's Cross, where they would head west towards Venza and back in through the East Gate.

But first, the clear road through Kekuku Pines awaits![/section]

[section]~ The flow of life from Fhanna's hands caused Seros to stir from his sleep, indigo eyes opening slowly to gaze upon the woman above him. Already he could feel the magic coursing through his body, ethereal bandages restoring his physical fortitude to the point of shocking the Rornishman from slumber to wide-awake as the pain of yesterday subsided into nothing.

" Good Morning ..!" Seros grinned, sitting up quickly and stealing a quick kiss from the Shaman before springing up to his feet and stretching out, " Dunno what's in that touch of yours but Saints Alive, I feel better!"

The aasimar could already see the color returning to his skin, flexing his fingers and then curling them tight in enjoyment of the revival of his strength. Though the memory of Caius's sacrifice still weighed upon him heavily, Seros would take whatever fortunes the party received at this point: not feeling like he was dying was certainly counted amongst that.

The swordsman made his way over to the fire, picking up two tankards and pouring coffee into them, breathing the steam in deep.

" I think this stuff is growing on me," he admitted, giving a small salute to Drayvin, " Thank you! Much obliged, odyn."

He passed one of the mugs to Fhanna, moving to the wagon and taking a long drink of bitter liquid before placing the cup on the seat of the coach. Seros grabbed his scabbard and moved to a nearby rock, settling himself down and carefully drawing the blade. The Inquisitor sighed upon spying the damage he had done to the sword: it was still covered in sap and tree pulp, dulled and even chipped it certain spots.

Swearing under his breath, Seros procured a cloth, his waterskin, and some oil to begin cleaning what was essentially a holy artifact to his people. Throughout the maintenance, he spoke to his new friends.

" Luckily we're almost home. Pretty sure we all deserve a drink back at the Dunn Wright among other things. Didn't get much of a chance to explore Venza when I arrived either, before being met by that Halfling Prince there and heading out to find you folks."

He paused. Frowned slightly.

" Do you think Prince Francis John would know who to reach out to ..? About Caius, that is ..?" ~[/section]

Sylvain listens with some sadness as the others recount their heritage. He is not proud of his. But he is proud where he has come to. He then casts himself down to sleep. Awakening in the morning he is brighter and ready to go. He silently helps Drayvvin with breakfast.

[section]~ Packing up was simple enough: they did not carry much, after all. Seros was able to throw his pack into the wagon after cleaning and sharpening his sword, frowning at the idea that he would have to take it to some poor blacksmith to be repaired, if it even could be.

Finally all set, Seros hopped into the wagon's co-driver seat, ready to have Venza before him before too long. ~[/section]

“Och, well, guid t’ see ye better, tae,” Fhanna told Seros, giving his firm bum a sharp slap as he got up. “Let’s get breakfast an’ be on the road again.”

It didn’t take long, and soon enough Fhanna was up in the wagon seat again with the reins loose in her hands as they made their way through the Pines.
