[M&M2E] Freedom League Unlimited (OOC)

My personal view is that pbp games are incredibly fragile, so the GM should let in enough players that having 1-2 people not posting at any moment won't force the game to grind to a halt, and then should advance the plot as necessary even if some people haven't yet posted. In essence, only the GM should be essential to the game. But I can see why you'd want to wait a little longer than "usual" at the very beginning.

I can't argue with you on that. I think the GM should move things ahead after a set amount of time, for 24 hours. Then if a couple of the players haven't posted by then, the game should simply move on and then they'll simply post in when they return.

I agree, although I'd say the time before posting doesn't need to be set in stone. A holistic method that accounts for the game situation and general posting patterns is probably best.

A couple of things I forgot to go over.

When in combat feel free to post your actions out of intitiative or contingent actions etc.

We will be using www.invisiblecastle.com for dice rolls. Please use [Freedom League] then your character's name in the 'Character Name' section and what the roll is for in the notes section. Please include any uses of feats (like power attack) or any other modifiers in the roll. Any divergence from this and I simply will not accept the roll. Here is an example of a test roll (1d20+20=23)

If you have any standing orders for spending HP please let me know.

I use colors for speech and italics for thought. Feel free to follow suit but I am not a nazi about such things. As long as I and others can understand your posts. If you do choose colors please make them sufficiently different from other's colors.

OOC can be listed at the bottom of your post. If it particularly lengthy please use a sblock or post it in this thread.

Thanks

These two parts are often mutually exclusive. E.g., feint then Power Attack if and only if the feint succeeded; or Power Attack if the target is stunned. How do you want to handle this kind of thing?

Also, for things like Toughness saves are you generally going to resolve the round and roll them for us (definitely faster), or are you going to pause and let us roll them ourselves. I think the latter approach will generally slow things down too much, unless the result of our toughness save won't affect anything- e.g., if Dragon Fist is first in the initiative count and gets hit by the last villain to go in a round, having me roll the save won't change anything, since there are no villains who could attack him before he gets an action and I'll have to post again to declare an action anyway (as opposed to if Dragon Fist had yet to go in the round, in which case if he was stunned I'd have to decide whether to buy off the stun, etc.).

If said feint & power attack had all that info in the roll's link I would be inclined to allow it and apply the modifiers afterward.

What I am trying to prevent is "Oh I wanted to power attack but forgot to subtract the attack mod" after the player rolled well.

I usually roll all the saves during combat.

Max continues to sense David insulting some underlying cosmic force, and starts wondering if he really does have Deadbeat's strange illness.

OK, seriously, lets stop disrupting the game -- There are only so many PP around, and the ones that would have gone to charisma or a couple more ranks of knowledge:bus (which I don't think is even necessary) instead went to ensure that all of the bases in the relatively expansive concept were covered -- and all that is part of flavor too.

Sure. But I poke fun at the way you created your character and all you can come up with is something about my character being able to see the underlying game mechanics at work (and/or being insane). Not something wittier about the way I created my character? For example:

Max didn't know what to think of David. A martial artist whose name was based on his signature move? It seemed very generic, very unoriginal. It was almost as if David was the conjunction of all unoriginality in the world, taken together and walking on two legs.

I would suggest that people stop displaying their thoughts of other players, unless telepathy was directly involved, that way there would be no such incidents of players poking fun at the build of the others, unless they specifically said it out loud.
