M3: Assassin's Knot (Patlin judging)

"Philmar et Oscar? Describe them to me." asks Rinaldo, trying to redraw in his head the face of the two men who was spying on the group last night.

"And you must hear rumors about people. If I want to employ people from here, or negotiate with them, I need to know a bit more about them. Tell me everything you know about Arness? Tellish? Wilphong? Wilbur? Prince Phillip? Falbor? The wizardress, friend of Falbor? Ollie? Abraham?"

He pause after each name, waiting for the answer.

"Also, tell me, where did you get that sword of yours?"

OOC: Also, Rinaldo evaluate all the answers, to see if he seems to lie or not.

Rinaldo and Eanos don't think Prisa is lying. But his situation is a bit suspicious. He is obstensbily a begger, but has a beautiful sword. He held the sword like a professional, and hid in the shadows like a professional.

"Oscar is the midgit. You must have seen him. Philmar is taller. They are always together."

"Arness grew up here. The daughter of a poor fisherman. She wasn't satisfied with this. She managed to get a job on the island as a maid. She impressed Phillip. Stories are different. I'm not sure how, but he slowly passed more and more responsiblity onto her. About 20 years ago, he sent her off the the magic academy. She spent a few years there. Five? In any case, she came back with Tellish. Her new friend. Tellish is no wizard, but she retains him as an advisor. Phillip was pleased, I guess, with her progress, and appointed her mayor. Put her in the castle on the hill. She took over the daily affairs of the town. Now we hardly even see Phillip."

"Wilfong is a traveler. I don't know why he's here. Running from someone probably. Hasn't been here long. Wilbur...who's that again? Falbor is a cleric of Xerbo, isn't he? Works as the healer in the guard. Armax is his wife, a wizard who was trained by Arness. They are close to the mayor. Ollie is a drunkard. He came about 10 years ago. He was injured in some adventure. Came here seeking the quiet life. Abraham is a good man. He'd be a good one to work with. He's fair and popular."

"As for my sword, like many who were born here, I left seeking adventure. I found some treasure in the swamps to the South, traded it for this blade in Monemvassia. Like it?"

He holds up the sword, which has never left his hand.

"Who is that captain Basmar? Where is his house? Since how long Oscar et Philmar are doing that, meeting with him?"

Rinaldo thinks about all that, things starting to take shapes in his head, but still too many hole for his liking. He looks at Eanos and asks him. "You want to add something?"

Eanos

Eanos stays silent for the most part, hardly able to keep up with the rapid-fire questioning Rinaldo is capable of. When the merchant pauses, though, the monk nods.

"Clearly there's more to Priska than meets the eye. We might as well ask him about the ... interesting architecture at the inn, don't you think?"

Rinaldo smiles. "Good point. What do you know about the Inn, Priska? I am curious to know every detail of about that building, even more the part about the trap door in the room."

Priska

"Basmar is tall, with long black hair and wears black clothes. He's always known the other two."

"Each room of the inn has a trapdoor?" Priska considers this, but shakes his head. "I don't know why that would be. The inn was there before Abraham took over. Perhaps he doens't know they're there?"

"I want to know one last things. Any rumors about someone in this town that is about to lose something he likes much, or maybe was about to lose? Enough that you think that person could be willing to do anything to recover it?"

"Thank you Priska. You earned you money. Tell me, do you like your life as a beggar? If you want to end it, just tell it to me, and what kind of life you seek, and I might see if there isn't a way to solve that problem."
