Mad God's Key - Chapter One

Llhuna

Not knowing yet, what's going on there, Llhuna decides to watch the pursuit for a moment, hoping to figure out what to do. She draws her shortbow, just in case the fugitive is coming her way.

OOC: draw bow (MA), ready action (SA).

READY:
Once the fleeing half-orc comes within full view and point blank distance (30 ft.), Llhuna will call out to him (in orcish): “Stop right there! Or I will put an arrow through your throat.” and shoot (attack +4, damage 1d6+1), if he continues. Afterwards, she will step back (B25).

Her cheeks now as red as her hair, inflating emptying in a sad, yet unintentional, parody of a blacksmith's bellows, Nuressa spies Irontusk and nearly flys across the docs to get at him. "I... <gasp> I... <gasp> ...gotch ...now." Hmm, I won't be able to clobber him just yet, too many things in the way, but at least I'll be close enough to knock him down if he tries anything.

OOC: Double Move to I-21, drawing warhammer at the same time. She'll just await her attack of opportunity should Irontusk move.
Warhammer +5 melee (1d8+3 damage)

Kel splashes into the water a second time, "bah a pox on this."

Kel startes swimming to the end of the dock, thinking to himself, okay I'll just swim up to this rat, I'm not walkin' the plank again.

occ: Kel will take 10 on his swim check and swim to p15

Gasping for air as she runs, Nuressa gets a big lungful of the odor of rotten strawberries. It looks like this merchant was a little late getting into town! Her hardy dwarven ancestry saves her from what would be an otherwise sickening experience.

Rushing onto the same barge with Irontusk, Nuressa too must contend with the nets hanging about the ship. Her stubby dwarven legs are no help here at all, and she is soon badly entangled.

OOC: You make it to I-21. It's a full round action (Escape Artist or Strength) to either slip free or break free next round. You are all set for the AOO however.

With a feral roar, Irontusk lowers his shoulder and barrels toward Nuressa. The plucky dwarf was expecting something like this though, and she swings with her warhammer thumping the enraged half-orc soundly.)
Irontusk staggers for a moment, then shoves into Nuressa, who easily forces him back.

Undaunted, or too maddened with hate and pain to care, Irontusk settles for sidestepping the dwarf.

Just a few yards away a battle between what is either an enormous chicken, or a feather covered half-orc unfolds. Trying to watch all three of the snarling bulldogs at the same time is tricky. The first dog is almost on top of Urkulyr before he realizes it. Reacting as fast as possible, the half-orc chops down with his greataxe, putting a large hole in the deck, but missing the hound by a mile. The mongrel lunges towards the cleric, but its jaws close on thin air.

The second dog too rushes ahead, eager to protect its master's barge. Urkulyr is ready for the attack, and counters with one of his own, severing the beast's head.

Unfortunately there's one dog left, and it charges straight for him. The hound's teeth flash white, but it gets nothing but a mouthful of feathers.

Kel splashes into the water a second time, "Bah a pox on this."

Kel startes swimming to the end of the dock, thinking to himself, okay I'll just swim up to this rat, I'm not walkin' the plank again.

Still back on the docks, Eldred draws a small wooden disk from his pouch. Turning his gaze inwards, he quietly mutters to himself. "Be the bolt ... be the bolt." The air shimmers around him as he draws arcane power to himself.

OOC: Things are moving right along.
It looks like Irontusk is on the ropes. That last blow from Nuressa hurt him badly, and he seems to be tiring.

Moving on. Same Initiative order.

Llhuna - 21
Nuressa - 20
Irontusk - 15
Urkulyr - 14
Kel - 8
Eldred - 5
Dogs -4

Llhuna

The elf moves closer to the fighting, her bow still in her hand, hoping to block the half-orc's escape route.

“Surrender!”

OOC: move to G25 (MA), ready action (SA).

READY:
If the half-orc turns to flee (i.e. to jump in the water or past her), Llhuna will shoot an arrow as soon as she gets a clear shot.

"Heh, hey big guy! With all these nets we're wrapped up in, this could actually be fun!" She gifts the half-orc with a nickle-plated smile. Lacking any real skill with ropes, Nuressa settles for attempting to rip her way free.

Grunting with exertion she says, "Why I free myself, <grunt> "...why don't you fill me in what you did with the key?"

OOC: Full-round action to burst nets.

Glancing at the headless canine corpse twitching in an expanding pool of blood on the planks of the dock, Urkulyr takes a step back and tries to calm the other two frothing beasts. "Woah there pups. Stand down. I mean no harm."

OOC: Five foot step back and ready an action to attack any dog that attacks me. I'm not actually trying to use wild empathy on the dogs or anything, just stepping out of their territory to see if they back off.

Nuressa flexes her mighty thews, but she fails to burst free.

Irontusk turns to flee. Nuressa takes a swing at him, but
misses. Llhuna fires her bow at the half-orc but has no better luck.

Irontusk vaults onto the barge full of rotten fruit. Gasping for air as he runs, he inhales a deep lungful of the foul odor and is sickened. Nevertheless, he presses on, rushing towards Llhuna. The elf makes a fair effort to block him, but a bow is no match for 250 pounds of speeding half-orc, and he dashes past her.

Crossing the last dock, Irontusk moves with a purpose onto the next barge, pausing beside two burning oil lamps. The brigand grins cruelly, showing his metal-capped tusk, as he upends both lamps onto the deck, setting the ship ablaze!

Glancing at the headless canine corpse twitching in an expanding pool of blood on the planks of the dock, Urkulyr takes a step back and tries to calm the other two frothing beasts. "Woah there pups. Stand down. I mean no harm."

His soothing words do nothing to calm the enraged beasts, and the lunge forward, snapping teeth seeking his throat. Urkulyr misses the first hound, which in turn misses by a mile, sailing over the edge of the barge, into the water, effectively removing him from the fight.

Urkulyr tries to follow through and hit the other mutt, but his blow swings wide. The second dog clamps down hard! Narrowly missing a major artery!
Urkulyr takes two points of damage.

Kel continues to swim towards Irontusk.

Eldred has finsihed casting his spell. He purposefully nocks a new bolt into his crossbow, and with a skill and grace he has never shown before sends the missile speeding to strike Irontusk The bolt lodges solidly in the half-orc's thigh bringing a grimace of pain to his face.

OOC: You're so close guys! He's running out of places to run!
Keep the pressure on him!

The barge Irontusk is on is completely ablaze, aside from the square he is standing in. Moving through the flames may be dangerous if you aren't nimble.

Same initiative order.

Llhuna - 21
Nuressa - 20
Irontusk - 15
Urkulyr - 14
Kel - 8
Eldred - 5
Dog - 4

Llhuna

“Great, I love fire! How about you?” Llhuna calls out while stepping a little closer and raising her hand to form a tiny ball of fire out of thin air, which she promptly hurls towards the fleeing half-orc with the iron tusk.

OOC: Casting Lesser Orb of Fire (touch attack +4, damage 1d8+4)
