Because there is no precedent for making use activated items that produce a spell effect over and over, I feel comfortable answering "yes" to your poll, but still nto allowing use activited (anything) of true strike.

That is exactly the response I was looking for. It proves that you are really thinking about this. Remember, you are the DM, thus you have control over what kind of magic items can be made. Just remember, you always have options. In this particular instance though, the answer in the poll "Sort of" would be completely appropriate. I can't thank you enough for your input, Axiomatic.

Edited because I made a complete @$$ out of myself by spelling "thank" as "think". Hey, I gotta give credit for the well-deserved jab. :D

Let's agree that this refers to an end, not a means, alright?

"Increase AC by 10 when worn" -> OK
"+10 dodge bonus to AC when worn" -> Not OK

True, but that is straight out of the rules.

DMG Table 8-1, page 177.

Bonus Type: Dodge

Sample Spell: Never
Sample Magic Item: Never

Increase AC by 10 when worn may be fine, but the type will still be important for establishing the cost.

(And I realize you know this, I'm just rambing now. Just ignore it. :) )

Just to remain as anal as always, I'll stick to my answer of "Yes." I do allow them to make non-core items. I just require them to stay strickly within the core rules to make them.

I'm quite aware of that, but:
1. It was an example of something I wouldn't let a player do, and
2. It's the spirit of the rules, not the letter - someone (not in my game) asked for an unnamed bonus to AC, since "it's not disallowed in the rules".

Now you know why I kept the poll options so simple. It really opened the doors to debate. :)
