magical marvel character copies

I was looking through the Magic Item Compendium and the spiderskin reminded me of spiderman's costume, so that got me thinking. has anyone tried to recreate the webshooters that spidy uses, also what about wolverines claws, cyclopses eye beam? just wondering if anyone has tried converting these things over to d&d.

Hrrm. Not that I know of, no, but you can generally replicate some comic book characters' abilities in D&D one way or another.

Example, Wolverine:
......An epic-level Fighter/Psion (Egoist)/Rogue/Barbarian/Ex-Monk, or Fighter/Psychic Warrior/Rogue/Barbarian/Ex-Monk. Claws of the Bear psionic power or similar (think 3.5 calls it Claws of the Beast?) for nasty claw attacks, a Monk level or 4 for some unarmed combat ability otherwise (he doesn't always need his claws), one Barbarian level for Rage and Fast Movement and some ranks in Survival (Wilderness Lore in 3.0), True Metabolism 9th-level power or similar (don't know the 3.5 version) to fast heal 10 damage per round, quickened manifestations of Improved Vigor (just Vigor in 3.5 I think) or Maximized Body Adjustment (3.0) on occasion for swift recovery after taking a nasty hit, Natural Armor and whatnot for sheer physical toughness, Psychofeedback to pump up his physical ability scores any time he gets seriously ticked off or whatever, etc. Rogue and Fighter levels to provide Wolverine's ninja skills and Weapon X/Alpha Flight special forces training.



Example, Spiderman:
3.0 Rules: Rogue 6, Psion (Egoist) 6, Monk 4, Ranger 4
3.5 Rules: Rogue 9, Psion (Shaper) 4, Psychic Warrior 6, Monk 1
2 Dorjes of Ectoplasmic Cocoon (3.5 requires the psion to be a shaper if he's gonna use this kind of dorje, but 3.0 doesn't have that restriction) to replicate the web-shooters for covering an enemy in webbing.

The rogue levels provide uncanny dodge and improved uncanny dodge, along with evasion and sneak attack (since Spidey's a clever and tricky fighter, it's not an unusual combat ability for him to get). The monk levels provide some basic unarmed and unarmored combat ability, including flurry of blows (and some extra speed in the 3.0 setup; the 3.5 setup needs more psionic levels for wallcrawling and superstrength, relying only on Burst for speed). The 3.5 setup uses Metaphysical Claw to empower unarmed strikes with an enhancement bonus for penetrating DR and simply boosting combat ability somewhat. These setups give Spidey a +14/+10/+4 Base Attack in 3.0, or +12/+7/+2 BAB in 3.5, but the psionic powers and Metaphysical Claw or Magic Fang provide a boost to Spidey's total attack bonus.

Either setup uses psionic feats to boost Spidey's agility; stuff like Speed of Thought and Mental Leap, plus maybe Psionic Charge. Psionic Fist and Unavoidable Strike, along with Greater Psionic Fist in 3.5, help boost Spidey's unarmed strike damage quite a bit, along with the psionic powers that do so. Powers and monk abilities are the main means of duplicating Spidey's defensive capabilities and spider sense. Spidey will be dealing some serious damage with unarmed strikes, but still be able to pull his punches when needed, without difficulty (in the comics, Spidey pulls his punches most of the time by habit, cuz he knows he's strong enough to kill an ordinary human in one hit if he doesn't; he's no where near Superman-level strength, but he's still extraordinarily strong).

Spidey's ability scores should be Str 18, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 16, Wis 16, and Cha 12, probably (one or two of those could be lowered 2 points though). Ability increases from level would probably go to Dexterity, while any magical ability-score-boosting items would probably be for Strength first, Dexterity second, and Constitution third (not likely any for the mental stats; Spidey's clever and smart, but no genius, and his knack for insults/jokes is more a matter of skill than talent, since he's not very personable normally; lots of ranks in Bluff though).

In the 3.0 setup, ranger levels provide access to Magic Fang for unarmed strikes to remain effective beyond low-levels (though still needing an Amulet of Mighty Fists or Wand of Greater Magic Fang at upper levels). The ranger, monk, and psychic warrior levels also provide some basic toughness (for the 3.0 setup, Spidey would probably have Aberrations or Monstrous Humanoids as his favored enemy, given the kinds of foe he tends to face; he wouldn't get any animal companion though). Psionic powers for Spidey in the 3.0 setup would be Improved Biofeedback (3rd level), Animal Affinity and Painful Touch (2nd level), Spider Climb, Lesser Body Adjustment, and Combat Precognition (1st level), Burst, Catfall, Lesser Natural Armor, Verve, and I guess Float (0 level). With the high Strength he'll have, especially when Animal Affinity is manifested for it, Spidey will be converting a goodly amount of damage he takes into subdual damage with Improved Biofeedback (3.0 has it change 2x Str mod damage from each attack into subdual; 3.5 just gives DR 3/- from an equivalent manifestation of Biofeedback, unfortunately). Lesser Body Adjustment will heal some normal and subdual damage whenever Spidey takes a breather during combat.

In 3.5, the Entangling Ectoplasm power serves to duplicate a lesser use of the web-shooters, while Force Screen could replicate the use of Spidey's webbing in making a temporary shield or barrier against attack. Biofeedback and Vigor would represent part of Spidey's superhuman toughness. Catfall, Precognition (Offensive), Precognition (Defensive), and Prescience (Offensive) would be the rest of Spidey's 1st-level psion powers, representing his instincts, spider sense, and agility. Detect Hostile Intent would be his 2nd-level psion power, also representing the spider sense. For psychic warrior powers, Spidey would have Wall Walker, Animal Affinity, and Painful Strike as his 2nd-level powers, and his 1st-level powers would be Thicken Skin, Burst, and Metaphysical Claw. These would replicate Spidey's wallcrawling, superhuman agility, superhuman toughness, and superhuman strength to some extent.
 


I once dmed a game wherein one of the characters was Iron Dwarf, complete with intelligent magical psionic technological armor with many of his magic items mounted in it.
