Major promotion!

I just got a "Major" promotion! Go me!

That is to say, I just got promoted to Major in the US Army. Which is great -- or will be when the pay raise kicks in -- although I'm so busy I barely have time to pop into EN World, let alone pick up and read some RPG material. Part and parcel of my new job meant a transfer away from my gaming group, and I haven't played since December, so the promotion isn't all upside. Gaming withdrawal sucks!

Just thought I'd share the good news with my friends here an EN World ... I'm off to Germany tomorrow, Nevada the following week, Vermont the week after, Missouri the week after that, with rumors of Iraq in June.

So for those of us that are a big... ignorant of how our army works, where exactly is Major in relation to the other ranks?

LightPhoenix, a Major is above a Captain and below a Colonel (which is below General). There are, of course, strata within each rank as well.
