Manyshot Question

I'm new to this Manyshot business.

Am I correct in thinking, it works like follows....

Say I have a character with Dex 18, BAB +6/+1 and both Rapid Shot and Manyshot

They can either standstill and use a Full Attack Action with Rapid shot to fire three arrows. At +8/+8/+3 (ie: BAB +6. +4 Attribute -2 for rapid shot)

Or move 30ft (or their normal movement distance) and use a Standard Action to fire two arrows using Manyshot at +6/+6

Am I correct in thinking the two feats can't be combined in anyway?

Yup. Full Round vs Standard.

I like manyshot. Particularly how you can ready it to disrupt spellcasters. There goes the 5 ft step trick (Quickdraw - Ready a Manyshot).

Hmm. Can you do that? Move up to the caster, then ready an action to attack him if he starts casting a spell? Quickdraw if he takes a 5ft step back, smack him if he casts on the defensive? I guess you can't use Manyshot in that situation...but in other disrupt the spellcaster ways, it's still good. It's also a good way to approach spell casters (move with 30 ft, manyshot, move again, etc).

You're correct the two aren't able to be used together.

One thing I really like about Manyshot is that True Strike becomes much more useful since it's one roll to hit for up to 4 arrows.

Thanks I hadn't noticed that about the single attack roll but I saw this...

Special: Regardless of the number of arrows you
fire, you apply precision-based damage only once.
If you score a critical hit, only the first arrow fired
deals critical damage; all others deal regular damage.

What is precision-based damage?

Because it sounds like it would be a useful phrase to attach to certain types of damage to indicate they only count on the first of several damage rolls when one attack roll is used. Like with Manyshot or shuriken, etc.

But then, neither Sneak Attack, Weapon Specialization, Point Blank Shot, etc are designated as precision-based damage in their discriptions.

So what does count as precision-based damage and does anyone point to anything in the SRD (rulebook) to back up their statement?
