Marshal or Dragon Shaman?

As a DM I find the energy damage aura slightly annoying. It shuts down some encounters too cheaply.

OOh! The Grell takes 10 attacks....for 20 points of acid! I guess he won't try that again.

I either have to throw energy immune stuff at them, or have the monsters just give up because they hurt themselves by doing their schticks.

Use level 5 orc and ogre barbarians. One hit, they take 2 points of damage, the PCs take about 30 points of damage.... sounds good to me.
 



The Marshal is too weak or too strong; adding an ability score to everyone's FOO isn't inherently balanced.

Dragon Shaman's level-based aura bonus and spiffy other abilities make it superior, IMHO. It's easier to use effectively, and harder to break.

If you want more versatility and chance to shine on your own, go Dragon Shaman...

If you want to be purely about boosting the rest of the party, go Marshal...
