Marvel Heros "Teen" Campaign

Again, it depends on the PC in question. Just because you're Spider-Man's son, it doesn't necessarily follow you'll get his powers.

I see your point. But lets say you were tasked with this scenario and write up, and you were to create the offspring of 3 Icons. Several questions have to be answered.
1: Are they the offspring of 2 Icons and what is the nature of the non icon(i.e Spidey would produce a completely different child if the mother was human vs. Asgardian vs. Shiar)
2) Does the offspring have a "normal" childhood experience vs. being raised in the x-mansion vs. summer vacations in Asgard with Pops vs. superhero's/villains in and out all the time.
3) Does the child know his father/mothers legacy? And do the parents know the nature of their child?

Captain America: Perhaps since the Super Soldier Serum has been lost procreation is the only way to pass it on. No matter his personality he would probably have an above average fighting score. Maybe he has a completely different power suite(for the most part I hope so). Perhaps he is hunted for his DNA by various government agencies...what does this turn him into?

Collosuss: Maybe he can produce projectiles of steel fired at super high speeds

Silver Surfer: Maybe his power is just above average abilities with a cosmic powered "Sunday Punch"

Just looking for some ideas and NPCs

Maybe I will make a random matrix up  Kind of sounds fun actually and I will see what I get

FWIW, one of the kids in PS238 has no powers, despite being the child of that world's versions of Superman & Wonder Woman...and his parents just think he's a "late bloomer."

And of course, growing up in an oddball environment is going to shape you...just like growing up anywhere will. Bruce Wayne would have been very different growing up in the 'Burbs with the nouveau riche as opposed to "stately Wayne Manor."

So what I say is: consider the power source. A super whose abilities are genetically derived is more likely to pass along his- or some kind of- powers than one whose abilities were imposed upon them (super-soldier serum) or the result of learning (most tech or magic types).

Valid points as of now I am working on a randomizer matrix. I am weighting the different possibilites of origins. Such as a mutant he is like you said "super" at a genetic level(i.e. The Iceman) has a much stronger chance to pass on like traits and powers than one who is completely superficial(i.e. Ironman). I wonder how I will sum two supers however and how racial templates would fit i.e Asgardian or Atlantean. Cool nonetheless thanks Dan

Don't overthink it, though!

I wouldn't create a matrix. I'd think about who...what kind of supporting cast you want in the campaign and retroengineer their origins.

So Tony Stark's hypothetical kid is every bit the genius his dad is...but he doesn't like weapons. Instead, he concentrates on tackling global warming. So he's probably not a superhero. But he might still be at the same school just for safety's sake...and to have access to other minds equal to his own.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Atlantis marries Heimdal's sister...and their kid is ultra strong and resistant to damage, but unable to breathe water and still mortal. He's at school because he can't go to either parent's house and live.

And so forth...

Yeah I actually had a rough draft of the generator up last night and I came to the same conclusion but that was when Cap. A married a skrull princess(I just chalked it up to duty and peace on Caps side) I had a kid that whose tongue was essentially like Mr. Fantastic lol

So I decided that it was beyond my control and I didn't like that. So I decided that I would pick them based on how far removed from their parents power set I wanted and how powerful they were.

if you find yourself in the mood to watch a movie: Sky High (yes, a disney movie, yes a little tongue in cheek for adults to watch) but it's right up this alley and might provide some inspiration (in fact, the "save the citizen" course idea from above is loosely based right out of that movie)... and how you can pass up the chance to see Lynda Carter as the principal of a high school for superhero kids? :)

But back to specifically what you're talking about right now -- i tend to take the opposite approach -- approaching it from the child and then working it back up to the adult.
For instance, if I decide I want a "brutish" sort of powered person (aka Colossus, Hulk, Thing) I'd make one and then define what the parent story is. Then do the same with some sort of energy blaster type. And so on until I had a good mix of characters/personalities/powers/power levels. but my point being, i don't start with what heroes would make what kid, i start with the concept for the kid and work backwards to which hero(es) could have that kid. It makes it a little more managable this way. and if some interesting spin comes out of it because of the ancestory after the fact, so be it.

So what are some archetypes you want to represent in the classmates?

and what kind of archetypes do you have represented already (and don't duplicate the archtypes that son of thor already is since he's your main star for this example).

On the "duplicating the main hero" thing: it can be a food thing if handled well- Marvel had some fun stories where the oh-so-serious Thor had run-INS with the carousing Hercules wishing to bestow upon a worthy opponent "The Gift."

(Said gift was the opportunity to get in a fight with Hercules.)

And what fan of comics didn't see fights between The Hulk and The Thing? Or Captain Marvel and Black Adam? Etc.

In a Supers: 1900 game I ran, one guy wanted to play "The Strongest Man in the World." So I let him. He had a rival, however, who was very nearly as strong, but had more training in HTH combat. The few times they came to blows were a LOT of fun.

The key with a "clone" is to make him a challenge but not having him appear all the time. He should be at least as busy as the PC.

That is essentially what I did with Cairn the Son of Ares. Bit more millitary training and hth. But does not possess the strength nor weapon quality(did I mention Rage has a hammer too? He named it "Metallica" but its not near the weapon Mjolnir is).

I already have in play "StarFalcon" a flying blaster type character. I think I have the team set already now I just need some interesting filler npc's and such.

The team is
LOCK: an earth powered based controler
THE GREY HOOD: She is a stealthy fighter type she uses twin batons(maybe energy powered maybe not)
STARFALCON: blaster
MISS MIRACLE: A psionic character(she is the Mentor)
RAge

Sounds like a good team mix.

LOCK: Is that character something like Terra from The Outsiders?

THE GREY HOOD: Those batons- are they straight like escrima sticks or do they have an offset handle like a nightstick?
