Marvel Mutants and Masterminds Downloads

Neo-

You did a great job with these conversions- thanks for sharing them! When my gaming group gets back to Mutants & Masterminds on our rotation, they may encounter some... re-imaginings... of Marvel characters! (My game world is set in Century Station, the Heroes Unlimited setting.) Thanks again!

Neo, you have any plans to make anymore? :)

I do indeed plan to release more conversions :) Though additional conversions are on hold pending the release of a particular book from Green Ronin.

I wish I could be more specific, but all will make sense in time :)

Question for Neo -- why did you give the Adamantium Skeleton & the Super-Soldier Serum the Device flaw? I know there was the one time Wolvie's Adamantium was removed from his skeleton by Magneto, but there was also a time the High Evolutionary removed the X-Gene from evety Mutant on earth, which not only removed their powers but also turned them into the people they would've been if they'd never been Mutants (for example, Nightcrawler lost his tail & grew more toes & fingers, Blob lost all his extraneous fat, Angel's wings fel off, etc., something that doesn't happen when they're snared in a Neutralizing Collars). Given that it essentially took a Plot Device to remove Wolvie's skeleton (and I've never seen someone "remove" the Super-Soldier Serum from Captain America), why give them the Device Flaw?

Adamantium Skeleton, were grafts.. something applied to the skeleton.. and anything applied can be removed. As per the original definition of a device i.e any thing which if removed would cause the loss of the poswers associated with it.. is why Wolverine got the device flaw applied to that particular aspect.

As for the Super soldier serum, well again it is only a chemical compound.. and could feasibly be negated or undone by another serum.. so isnt as defining and final as the mutant gene which is inherently part of a mutant.

However Device has and is being redifined more clearly as to what falls into thier category and knowing what I know of things now they would not if I did them again have the device flaw now.

As for plot devices, well If I can do something mechanically I tend to do so, as most things can be covered with things like extra effort and plot device etc... but those things are a little open ended and open to interpretation for me. The only time i'd likely use Plot Devices is when cosmic level individuals are concerned whose powers and abilities cannot easily and reasonably be charted.

And as I mentioned, if you remove the X-Gene from a Mutant, that removes their Powers. By your logic, all Mutants should have the Device flaw on their Powers. Same goes for Spider-Man (irradiated spider venom), Deathstroke the Terminator (super-soldier serum that enhanced his strength, reflexes, and healing), the Fantastic Four (Cosmic Rays), the Flash (electrified chemicals), etc. etc. etc..
