Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World

geez, Daniel - talk about reaching for reasons not to like a movie.
Do you set yourself up like that for every movie you see?
Chances are, the film will disappoint you in one of those general areas...
Huh? What on earth are you talking about?

I didn't reach at all for reasons to not like the movie. The preview for it just turned me off, and I was trying to figure out why it turned me off. Previews for other movies get me excited, adn then I'll try to figure out why they get me excited. No reaching involved.

Yes, the chances are that the film would disappoint me in one of those general areas, true. That's why I'm not going to see it unless someone who knows me well tells me I'd probably like it.

That doesn't reflect either on the movie or on me. It simply reflects on my particular take, about which non est disputandem.

I don't like people showing off their foreign language skills to impress.

just because I don't speak Greek like you, doesn't make you smarter...

Okay, one last time. Tom Hanks was not nominated for an Oscar for Apollo 13. You can believe it, but it did not happen.

I'm going to make a guess and say Spencer Tracy. I know he won Best Actor twice in a row for Captains Courgeous and Boys Town, but I can't think what would make the trifecta.
