Masterwork bonus type

A masterwork weapon gives +1 to hit. Is this a named bonus type (circumstance, competence, etc)? I could almost swear I'd seen it named, but I may have been hallucinating because I can't find the spot.

It wouldn't seem sensible for it to be an unnamed bonus, because those stack with everything, and the MW bonus doesn't stack with the enhancement bonus on a magic weapon. But again, I can't find any spot in the SRD that specifically names a bonus type. Little help?

It is a named bonus. It's called masterwork, and it doesn't stack with anything (other weapon enhancements).

It's not named. Masterwork weapons have a +1 to hit that doesn't stack with an enhancement bonus, but they never actually name the bonus.

Technically, it's an unnamed bonus that doesn't stack with enhancement bonuses. If it helps, you can think of it as an enhancement bonus - it functions in the same way.

I know. It's called being a smart@$$. ;) Besides, what does everyone call the mysterious masterwork bonus? Huh...a masterwork bonus maybe? :)

Magic weapons have enhancement bonuses ranging from +1 to +5. They apply these bonuses to both attack and damage rolls when used in combat. All magic weapons are also masterwork weapons, but their masterwork bonus to attack does not stack with their enhancement bonus to attack.

What do you know? It's a "masterwork bonus."

Hee hee - it's fun to one-up Caliban on straight rules (even if on a purely silly item like this).

Finally

I was under the assumption that it was an enhancement bonus, hence it did not stack with other enhancements.

... and yes launchers and ammo stack

finally, been waiting for the boards to come back online

Well, it's never actually named in the PHB, where it talks about creating an buying masterwork weapons.

If finding an short-hand reference to it in the magic item section of the DMG makes you feel special and superior, more power to you. *shrug*
