MAT bidding for Hasbro??

The problem I have is that I don't like seeing WotC being a part of any company that is still clinging to the old toy lines of dolls and action figures. I'd rather see it bought up by a computer game company or something where the future of "toy" sales lies...

The thing I liked back in 1997 was that WotC's Top Staff were gamers, every single one - they were either fans of or at least had respect for D&D. Even currently, most of the top staff are gamers. Whatever happens to WotC in the future -- Mattel, Hasbro, or Gebhardt-White Foods, even -- as long as it's headed by people who actually LIKE and respect RPG's and gamers, I'm cool with it. If it goes back to something similar to the days of She Who Must Not Be Named, then I'll worry.

except the pink dragon that does sound like it has possibilities. I'm not sure I like the idea but they have made Barbies for everything else. Actually I think they may pass on the Sorceress. It could get the Fundementals a little testy.

Oh like the Barbie Priestess of Lloth playset complete with ritual dagger, drider consort and human sacrifice would be fine....

Like they'd never seen their daughters strip the Barbie and Ken dolls.... And how many nude baby dolls you see at thrift stores everywhere.... :uhoh:

I don't think their as bothered by the naked dolls as they would dolls that encourage children to cast spells. They sometimes find the devil working in the stranges places.

I could be wrong. Is there a Harry Potter Barbie line?

Amen.

I don't like the sound of this, though. If this ends up happening, I'll bet we'll start hearing about a new edition in the near future. The idea of the D&D Boardgame coming US stores is cool IMO. I've been trying to find a copy for a while that i won't have to spend an arm and a leg on by getting it from Europe...

Nope that would kill Billy Graham if it hit the market.

What was her name again? Really who are you talking about? I'm not up on the Who's Who of WotC.

Agreed. This was the primary reason I never made the switch to 2nd Edition. When Gygax was gone, I continued on my merry way with AD&D 1st edition. And now, I've bought more 3rd Edition stuff in the last five years than I had 1st Edition in the first 23 years!
