Matt Mercer has tips for tools behind the DM's screen.

He also mentions this very site, so I thought I'd return the favor.

I love the wooden DM's screen and one or two of these I haven't thought of. Do any of you use spell templates?

My goodness I wanted to give his iPad screen a good cleaning. Jony Ive keeps his head shinier than that!

Do any of you use spell templates?
I have some templates for Savage Worlds that I've actually used, and it was very helpful, so I keep saying "I'm gonna make some templates for D&D spells" and "Ah, man... I forgot to make those templates. I'll do it before next session." about them.

I've also used them on virtual table-tops like MapTool... and uh, yeah, I'm actually going to go start working on some for D&D right now so I finally stop forgetting - because they are super helpful, especially if, like me, you don't adhere strictly to the grid on the battlemap so precise measurement of an area effect and whether or not a particular potential target is affected means breaking out a measuring tape.
