Maybe THIS could be the future format of D&D...

It also needs to be able to handle any genre, from stone age fantasy to swords and spells, to modern to sci-fi to post-apoc. All in one book.

Also, it needs to ditch the d20, and go with RPS 25. We can have buitiful tables, like this one...

Maybe in 4e the Flumph will be the new Tarrasque.

Run! Run for your lives! :D :D :D

What? No, I demand that flumphs be included as a core race!!! Now maybe my half fiendish dire flumph/needleman loremaster/blackguard will get some offically sanctioned WotC love that it deserves  .

WotC is clearly going to shift D&D into a rules set that emphasizes story, maybe pad out the MM to one page per monster minimum, give some better backstory.
I don't know about that. Any new edition won't be for us that currently play. It will geared towards pulling MMORPG players into the fold. Sure, story will play a part, and I think the crunch will be lessened, but with the HUGE success of the miniatures line we're likely going to see any new edition tied more closely to minis rules. I could very well be wrong, but if I was going to try and grow the hobby, that's the route I would take. Make something easy to jump right into that looks and feels alot like the games that are popular online right now.
