I was thinking a low-level Pointman, with all his class skills and skill points sunk into Manga-related Hobbies, Knowledges and Japanese culture skills. He'd need Craft (anime/magna) maxed out as well, I think, and at least a few ranks in Computers.

Snoop has Craft, Computers, Hobbies, Knowledge, Cultures, Languages and a whole lot of other things in-class. Meanwhile, Piro has shown no signs of Versatility, and I'd stick him at Snoop 3.

Considering some of the Segasoft gear you pulled out of nowhere (a Black Ops minivan!), you might add in a level of Fixer for the Procure ability.

Who said that it was Procured? It was more than likely requisitioned before the mission, given that it was a standard issue van.

The adventure aims to emulate the "Tokyo Police, Cataclysm Division" episodes... Lots of Giant Turtles, Zombies, and Alien Invaders.

I am completely unconcerned about keeping the PCs balanced. Abilities and levels should be appropriate to what the characters can and will do in the storylines.

I see... that makes things interesting on my side. I'll be back soon, statting up one character at a time... and remember that these aren't hard, official write-ups, they're just me fiddling around.

I was going to make comments on Spycraft conversions of the characters, but I think Dom covered most of what I wanted to say, and a whole lot more.
I do think that Pointman would work well for Piro, people seem to like him even if he isn't aware of it. Everyone around him does stuff, and isn't that what the Pointman is all about? :)
I haven't looked into any of the Shadowforce Archer stuff, but it looks like it'd be useful.
Don't be afraid of using Spycraft and D20 Modern for different characters. If you don't care as much about balance, it shouldn't matter, other than minor conversions.

Finally, I'd avoid giving Largo anything with the word 'Smart' in the name, unless it's a smart missile.

I would also make a point to max out Dom's "AIM Use" skill for every level. Oh wait, that's real-life Dom, not Shirt Guy Dom. ;)

I get them confused.

Let's start with the easiest (read: lowest level) character to stat up, Piro.

Class Levels: Snoop 3
Department: "The Basement"

Strength: 10
Dexterity: 8
Constitution: 12
Intelligence: 16
Wisdom: 14 (adjusted from 12)
Charisma: 13 (adjusted from 15)

Points: 28

Skill Ranks: (note that this build of Piro has a fat 12 skill points a level... and they're all sinking into hobby)

Bluff (cross-class): 2 (4)
Bureaucracy: 5
Computers: 6
Concentration: 1
Cultures: 6
Diplomacy: 2
Languages: 3 (one for Japanese, one to make it native, one for l33t: note that he speaks Japanese as if he were a young girl)
Hide: 3
Hobby ('net surfing): 7
Hobby (art): 9
Hobby (video games): 9
Hobby (anime/manga): 9
Search: 3
Sense Motive: 2
Spot: 3
Total: 72

Feats:
Ordinary Past
Fortunate
Unlocked Potential (Hobby)

Any comments?

Piro's one of the few I can do with just the Core Rulebook, too. Consider this slight alternative...

Class: Pointman 6
Department: The Basement

Strength: 10
Dexterity: 8
Constitution: 12
Intelligence: 16
Wisdom: 14 (adjusted from 12)
Charisma: 13 (adjusted from 15)

VP: 6d10+6
BAB +4
Base Saves: +3/+3/+5
Def bonus: +2
Init bonus: +2
BP: 18
GP: 4

Class Features:
Generous
Versatility (1st lvl: Computer, Cultures, Hobby, Languages, Search, Spot; 3rd lvl: Hide; 6th lvl: Concentration)
Assistance (1/2 time)
Lead (2/session)
Tactics (1/session)
Cross-class Ability: Backup (1/session)

Feats:
Ordinary Past - Dept. Bonus
Unlocked Potential (Hobby) - 1st
Fortunate - 3rd
Old Debts - 6th

Skill points: (6 + 3 + 1) * 9 = 90 total.

Bluff (cross-class): 2 (4)
Bureaucracy: 5
Computers: 6
Concentration: 1
Cultures: 6
Craft (art): 12
Diplomacy: 2
Knowledge (Japan): 6
Languages: 3 (one for Japanese, one to make it native, one for l33t: note that he speaks Japanese as if he were a young girl)
Hide: 3
Hobby ('net surfing): 7
Hobby (video games): 12
Hobby (anime/manga): 12
Profession (anime/manga sales): 5
Search: 3
Sense Motive: 2
Spot: 3

The ability scores are the same. While he can't do anything spectacular himself, the Pointman features give plenty of friends who can do it for him (I though that seemed to suit Piro's style).

The skills largely stayed the same... The Hobbies all incresed by a couple ranks. I switched Hobby (art) to Craft (art), and added Profession (anime/manga sales) so that he actually qualified for the Ordinary Past feat. I also added Knowledge (Japan).

Alone, he's just as useless as before. But all of his friends keep him around for 'luck'...

I disagree with the concept of Piro as a Pointman. That would actually make him useful, not to mention that he tends to bring down people around him rather than helping anyone else out.

But hey, you do it the way you do it... though my build admittedly left out Profession because I simply forgot about it--I'm too used to Mimic, Stealthy, and Grease Monkey being two skills each.

...oh. And you missed the extra stat point from being 4th level...

Well, I don't want him to be entirely useless.

That, and I liked the idea that he could't do anything useful himself. Ironically, the only way he would really be able to help out is through other people.

Speaking of bringing others down, I actually thought of giving him the Undermine feat... Hrm... Maybe we could find a way to make that his only useful ability... Hrm... I'll have to look at my books again when I get home from work.

From the easiest to perhaps the most difficult, and yet the most fun:

Junpei. Note that he's really, really high level, as Ed and Dom will both be, due to the fact that not only will you be facing gargantua in your campaign, but also, we need to make his Jump ungodly (the MA's wuxia ability takes care of that just as much as Physical Adept does). And okay, fine, I have a ninja fetish. Sue me.

Classes: Fixer 2/Martial Artist 6/Ninja 5
Department: Yakuza (Ninja clan, same thing)

Strength: 18 (raised from 16 via level)
Dexterity: 18 (raised from 17 via level)
Constitution: 10 (adjusted from 8)
Intelligence: 12 (adjusted from 14)
Wisdom: 13
Charisma: 10

Vitality: 7d8 + 6d12
Defense: 25 (4 dex + 2 fixer + 5 MA + 4 ninja)
Initiative bonus: +16 (4 dex + 1 fixer + 4 MA + 4 ninja + 3 department)

Skills:
Balance: 6
Computers (cross-class): 2 (4)
Climb: 10
Escape Artist: 4
Handle Animal: 4
Hide: 16
Hobby (video games): 6
Intimidate: 8
Jump: 16
Knowledge (underworld): 6
Languages: 2 (English, L33t. Neither native)
Move Silently: 16
Open Lock: 5
Sense Motive: 7
Tumble: 10
Total: 120 (45 + 30 + 45)

Feats:
Hard Core (Yakuza)
Acrobatic (Character 1)
Martial Arts (Martial Artist 1)
Chi Strike (Martial Artist 3)
Improved Disarm (Martial Artist 4)
Iron Fist (Martial Artist 5)
Stealthy (Character 6)
Advanced Skill Mastery: Stealthy (Ninja 1)
Improved Equilibrium (Character 9)
Improved Skill Mastery: Acrobatic (Character 12)
Hidden Run (Ninja 4)
Grand Skill Mastery: Stealthy (Ninja 5)

Class/department features: Way too many to list... consult the books. Suffice to say that he's very good at making gigantic leaps without making sound, and kicks a surprising amount of butt for a rogue class.

I had way too much fun with Junpei. Now I need to balance him against Ed and myself.
