memories of new editions

When 3e came ou, I was kind of not gaming much. I stopped gaming right around the WOTC purchase of TSR, not because I thought AD&D was bad, but because I was busy with school. Just didn't fit my schedual at the time. :(

Then, later I was living in an apartment with a good friend, and we were close by some other good friends, a few of which had been in my old gaming group... Since I had all my stuff, we decided to get a game up. I instantly fell back in love with gaming! At around the same time, I noticed an add for a convention at a local hotel. (Shorecon!)

A friend of mine and I went over to check out the dealer's area. I picked up a few things... A cool (relatively speaking...) Illumninati T-Shirt, some dice, and... A 3rd edition PHB?!?!?

I had to buy it... I glanced through it, (wtf is a sorcerer?) but it sat on my shelf for a while...

Then one day I started seriously reading the new PHB... I really dug it... And the wall of (d20) D&D material at the local comic/gaming store was insane... :)

As my sig says, I'm a 2nd Ed player. I never converted from Second to Third because I *started* playing just a year or two before the new edition came out. There was NO way I was buying the core books again after I had just bought them. And I had also gotten a slew and a half of modules dirt-cheap, and didn't really want to convert. Also, I actually LIKE THAC0.

It's only recently that I'm starting to consider picking up a few d20 products, but that's mainly because I REALLY want to play in the Black Company world.
