[sblock=Difficult Terrain]
Looks like both of you forgot that the road you're standing on is difficult terrain because of the slippery ice...

Also remember you can move through the statues squares, although that's difficult terrain as well. (Not the enemies, the unmoving statues.)

[sblock=OOC]
Double Goof! well.... Murphy's taking on OA regardless, he can't shift with it being difficult terrain.

I think he can still get to L7, same actions

Both of Balth's arrows speed toward the gargoyle hunched over the door, sinking deep into the stone. It appears to be made of clay, not solid stone: as it lurches forward with heavy wingbeats, huge pieces of its hide fall off to shatter to the ice below. In fact, a large chunk of its chest is left behind, pinned to the side of the tower by Balth's arrow. It flaps unsteadily over Shorrin's head and opens its mouth to scream. Balth can see a strange rippling in the air approaching him, and tries to dodge aside, but the scream's echo strikes him in the side of the head. It feels like a solid punch; the world briefly goes haywire and there is a sudden ringing in his ears. When his vision goes back to normal Balth still finds it hard to concentrate, and he can't see the clay scout anywhere. (Even though all his friends can clearly see it circling over the battlefield.)

As Murphy backs off from the suddenly moving statue next to him, the toad-like demon darts forward and sinks its wide, fanged mouth into his leg. Just an instant too late, his eyebite catches it and it looks around in surprise and bafflement, abandoning its pursuit. Murphy retreats to the far side of the road, squeezing past one of the still-immobile statues.

The iron statue finds itself standing next to Larinza, and it bites at her as well, but it is still dazzled from Murphy's attack and she easily evades it. Murphy unfortunately finds he's retreated to just in front of another mobile statue - it steps forward and bites him at as well! Even as it does so, a shroud of magic darkness closes in around Murphy, and the gargoyle is reduced to snapping blindly into the dark.

The other two statues also advance - the farthest one steps off the road to lope quickly through the snow, passing through the hole left when Murphy attacked and coming out adjacent to Larinza and Janus. Seeing its partner already engaging Larinza, it lands a solid bite on Janus. The final statue squeezes forward, next to one of its immobile duplicates, and bites at Shorrin, who manages to get his shield up in time - the iron statue bounces off it, and the shuddering blow sends a numb pain up his arm.

[sblock=Arcana 15]
You recognize these animated gargoyles as constructs called "homunculi". A homunculus is often tasked with guarding a specific creature, object, or location and gains powers that better enable it to perform this task.

[sblock=Status]
I don't know why I kept writing Iron Guardian - they're called Iron Defenders. You can make an Arcana check as a free action (or Take 10) to read the block above. (Should've posted that earlier, sorry.)

Balth hits the Clay Scout for 30 damage total, bloodying it. (In fact it has 1 hp left!)

Murphy moves to M7 (you're right, you can get there by moving through a statue's square, I forgot that too when I was looking at this the first time), provoking an OA from Iron Defender 1. It hits with a 20, for 9 damage, and uses Pursue and Attack (shift 1 square before or after making an OA) to shift to J9. Then Murphy's eyebite hits it for 11, and he's now invisible to it.

The Clay Scout attacks Balth with Mind Touch, hitting with a 22 vs Reflex for 8 psychic damge. Balth is dazed, and the Clay Scout is invisible to him (save ends both). (Technically the wording is "the Clay Scout is invisible to dazed creatures".) Then it moves to I9 (flying far enough over Shorrin's head that he can't get an OA). It is now hovering 5 feet off the ground at I9 - Balth can tell what square by the sound, but has a -5 to hit it.

Iron Defender 1 attacks Larinza, missing with 15.

Iron Defender 2 moves to L11 and attacks Shorrin, hitting with a 25 for 4 damage.

Iron Defender 3 moves to J8 (it can get there by passing through I9, which isn't difficult terrain) and attacks Janus, hitting with a 19 for 8 damage.

I'm going to go ahead and move Iron Defender 4 right now: it moves to M6 and attacks Murphy, missing with a 16 due to his concealment. (If Janus's action makes that impossible, I'll retcon it when I get back.)

Janus's turn, then Larinza can go.

23 - Balth (22/22 hp, dazed, can't see Clay Scout (save ends))
23 - Murphy (17/26 hp, cursed Iron Defender 1, concealed until end of next turn)
22 - Clay Scout at J14 (30 damage)
22 - Iron Defender 1 at I9 (11 damage, can't see Murphy until start of Murphy's next turn)
19 - Iron Defender 2 at M11 (0 damage)
16 - Iron Defender 3 at E8 (0 damage)
13 - Janus (14/22 hp)
8 - Iron Defender 4 at M5 (0 damage)
6 - Larinza (24/24 hp, +2 Init to all allies in LOS within 10 squares, allies in LOS who spend an action point regain 4 hp)
4 - Shorrin (29/33 hp)

[sblock=Out of town]
I'm going out of town tomorrow - I'll be gone until Wednesday. That's why I moved Iron Defender 4 early - wanted to get it done before I leave. See you next week!

Joe,

Murphy has concealment so the attack should miss him, unless these creatures ignore concealment effects.

P.S. Enjoy the vacation/trip :)

"NNOOOOOooooo!" Too late Janus tries to stop his comrades from opening the door, then all hell breaks loose. Before he can react the now living statue takes a bite out of Janus's armor taking flesh along with it.

"My turn rusty." Janus steps back as he begins to cast. "Niarren yci gnitsac" With the completion of the spell the ground around the feet of the 3 Homonculi glistens as it refreezes to a mirror finish, the temprature drops alarmingly and ice crystals briefly form in the air around them.

"I recognise these creatures, homonculi, my master employs them to guard his chambers. They might be guarding the entrance."

"Well if they're gaurding this must be the right place."

Larinza strikes out at the animate statue, drawing attention to herself in hopes to let an ally in for a better strike.

Larinza uses Furious Smash on Iron Defender at J8 (1d20+7=22) if that hits, 3 damage and Janus gains a +3 power bonus to the attack roll and the damage roll againsts the target before the end of my next turn.
