Menace of the Icy Spire (Ozymandias79 judging)

"Hummmf, I'll never trust a fireplace again" Janus quips as he saunters back toward the doorway, casually flicking a hand at the shardling in the southern fireplace. Thunder booms and a wave of icy goodness hurtles like a out of control calvary charge into the newly manifested shardling, blasting it to pieces. "Anyone got some oil?"

This game seems to be slowing down, largely because I've been too busy to keep it moving, but I notice that when I do post, it's often a couple of days before anyone else follows up. And this is a pretty big encounter, so it would make a fitting conclusion if I go all out. So, what's your vote?

A) The Frostling is the mastermind behind the Icy Tower and when you finish him off, you've succeeded (except for the wrap-up).
B) The true end boss is on the top floor, as originally planned.

If you don't have time to keep it moving, I wouldn't mind wrapping it up after this fight. That way it'll free you up to spend more time on Dextyr (and your own PC's) :)

I will say I've been impressed that it's been kept moving at a pretty good speed for over 6 months. Well done Joe. This will be the first game I've played in to completion in over 2 years of PbP'ing so that is something that I'm happy about.

I think my schedule will have cleared up a bit by the time this encounter finishes, so it's more about whether you guys are getting sick of this game or not.

Personally I hate not finishing an adventure to its conclusion, I am happy with the pace, its obvious most of us have other commitments and everyone seems to accept some delays because of this. Keep going it my vote.

I'm good with moving forward as well, I just want to make sure you don't get burned out JNC, and get to play Ironheart. I like him and want to see you roll with him

Personally... I still check the thread every day (just didn't realize it was my turn last time). It doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I vote with the majority. [/sblock]

I can't really figure out your action. You can't move to H2 before killing the Shardling at H3 (sorry, I forgot to update the location in the Status section, so that might have confused you, but it's at H3 on the map. But if you cast Thunderwave first, it'll hit Larinza too. So to avoid delaying things any more, I'm just gonna change it to Magic Missile. Which is a shame, because if you'd caught the fireplace in your area attack, I could've used it to give some more hints...

Murphy backs away from the shardling and obliterates it with a flick of his wand. He follows up by blasting the already injured raider to smithereens.

The Frostling roars. "KILL THEM ALL!" It hurls a blast at the only target it can see, Shorrin, encasing him redundantly in frost. The icicle hurler to the north throws its icy spear at the exposed Balth, impaling him through the leg. The final icicle hurler raises its arms and chants something in an unearthly language, and sends a globe of swirling snow to shatter at the floor near Shorrin. It explodes into a tornado of icy shards which fills the entry hall, further scouring Shorrin and Balth's flesh. Janus is hit hardest as the storm is funnelled through the doorway right over him. After only a few seconds the storm dies down leaving everyone bleeding and battered.

Murphy moves to G3, kills the Shardling 6 with his curse, and hits Raider 1 for 11, killing it. (He can bamf again for that if he wants.)

Janus casts Magic Missile at Shardling 5, killing it, moves to H2, and "pushes up the fireplace", whatever that means... What exactly are you doing to the fireplace? (Bearing in mind you only have a minor action left this turn, so if it's something complicated, it'll have to wait until next turn... hint, hint.)

The Frostling's Icy Burst fails to recharge: Icy Burst recharge (1d6=4) It fires a Freezing Shot at Shorrin: Freezing Shot at Shorrin (1d20+9=29, 1d6+4=8) Critical hit for 10; Shorrin is slowed until the end of the Frostling's next turn (which does nothing since he's already slowed); and one enemy within 3 squares of him can shift to a space adjacent to him (the Icicle Hurler passes on this).

Icicle Hurler 1 regenerates 2, and its Icicle Storm fails to recharge: Icicle Storm recharge (1d6=1). It throws a Flying Icicle at Balth: Flying Icicle vs Balth (w/1d6 cold damage) (1d20+9=29, 1d6+2+1d6=10) Ouch, another critical: 8 damage plus 6 cold damage. Balth is bloodied again.

Icicle Hurler 2 casts Icicle Storm, an Area Burst 3 centered at E4. This targets Shorrin, Balth, Janus (who has -2 for cover since he's in the doorway), and Murphy if he's still in range: Icicle Storm vs Shorrin, Balth, Janus and Murphy (1d20+7=26, 1d20+7=25, 1d20+7-2=25, 1d20+7=15, 1d10+1=4) Hits Shorrin and Balth for 4, and critically hits Janus for 11. Guess it didn't matter where Murphy was after all. Shorrin's bloodied too now!

Anybody notice that Murphy's still uninjured? Doesn't that piss you off?

Murphy gets to teleport, and it's Balth's turn.

Murphy's still good with his location, for now.

*He's just smart enough to stay away, he does have an 18 INT ;)*

sorry I wasn't clear, missed the move of the shardling too. I wanted to push the shardling into/up the fireplace. No matter it's dead now
