Metamagic feats

I am about to start an evil campaign with a 4th level cleric concentrating on diplomacy and spellcasting. Having never played a spellcaster before, are there any good metamagic feats for clerics and what level would be appropriate to take them?

I find that many are good. Silence or Still spell will save you if you are bound or are hit by a silence spell. Also at high levels quicken is amazing.

All meta magic feats have their uses. Oviously, the more powerul neeed to be taken at high levels for thie usefulness. Sure, you can take Quicken Spell now, but until you are 7th level (4th level spells) you can't quicken anything (and at 7th level you can only quicken orisons).

I'd wait off until 6th level to get a meta magic feat. That way you get a feel for what you might need in the area of spellcasting. Nothing worse then realizing you took a feat that you no longer need or want.

Extend spell it only adds one lvl to the spell but adds another increment to the duration for each use. Bulls Str at lvl 4 lasts for 28 hours for example. So would curses x2 duation Hold Person lvl3, nasty.

And an extended creeping cold is really nasty at 9th level it is something like 300d6 damage.

But that is not a cleric spell.

And it only repeats the highest level of damage, it doesn't kkep increasing it. But that's for another thread.

Extend spell is a very good one and the one our Druid gets the most use out of.

Really? In the description it says that it does cumulative damage every round. So I thought that it would increase every round.

Sorry TheDood I don't mean to steal the thread.

Extend is very useful. It is also thebridge to one of the most powerful metamagic feats: Persistant Spell. No longer are you shafted by measly 1 minute Divine Favors, or 12 rounds of Divine Power. You too can have 24 hours duration spells up. Its also fun with the celerity prestige domain and haste. :)

If you couldn't tell, my vote is for extend. It is not as useful for Wizards, as they don't usually do as much buffing, but for cleric's, its the bomb.
