Midnight: First Impressions of Campaign Book

I agree that SL is cool, it is just too similar to regular old DnD. I wanted something different but not uber different, and now Midnight fills that hole.

I wonder how many SL people are going to convert to Midnight, now that it is getting around.

:( very sad.

My copy has started falling apart. During character creation, a few pages in the magic section just came loose.

Wil? Greg?

Will FFG replace it for me?

Ashrem
Yes, they will replace it for you. You can either take it back to the store you bought it from, or mail it to this address.

There was a problem at the binder with some of the books, and FFG has been very professional in their handling of returned books.

Hope that helps,

The binding in mine is also very poor.

I like it a lot, though I am disturbed by the thought that with a powerful enough character the world would play a lot like Diablo II.

Oh, not at all. As powerful as the charactres are (compared to core charcters) that advantage only goes so far.

If the PCs walk through the world of Midnight like its a hack-fest, you can expect them to die quickly.

Midnight combat is very focused on melee, since most devestating spells aren't gained until after about 7th level. Even then using them only draws the unwanted attention of the local legates.

In Midnight, you are surrouned by evil on all sides, working to fight back the Shadow an inch at a time.

So far my gaming group has really embraced the world and has started to adapt to its finer points. They avoid large cities, and when they must go into one they send an Erenlander (human) in to scout out the situation first. They never allow one of their Fey members to enter a town, knowing that anyone could be a spy that turns them in.

So far their new found caution has meant they are doing quite well in their fight against the Shadow.

Hope that helps,
Todd

Crown of Shadows

Just wondering if others have seen this yet, it;s the first module for Midnight. I read through it and I think it's a great introduction to the world. The characters are right in the struggle from the beginning, they travel across the continent so they get to see and experience much. I really like the DM advice boxes and the XP summarries at the end of each chapter.

Crown of Shadows

Yeah, I really like this one too. You can't beat it for a great intro to the world. It has pretty everything that makes Midnight, Midnight.

The quality, writing, and maps are all excellent. As is the story and organization.

Got an email from FFG regarding my binding problem. Thanks guys!

Now I just have to part with my book for a few days. :(

Oh yea, I really want Crown of Shadows too. :(

Just thought I'd cast another vote in the "I like it very much" column.

It's the low-magic, character-emphasizing world I've been looking for.

Well not me but I do think if some do flock to Midnight it's all for the best.
