Miniatures Forum? Please vote!

I have been for a mini board for a while, I may of spent a lot more time here if ENWorld actually had one.

Mini discussion in general does not see rampant posting but this is the nature of mini painters. The general board here has far too great of a flow for those who enjoy discussing minis. There is usually fair amounts of time between posts as a painter works on a mini and post updates on the work. We don’t post a lot but you usually don’t see OT garbage when in mini, so once something is posted [like how to make mini storage bin] it is not imposable to find a week later.

Creating a new forum does not usually generate more posts on the given topic. So, no matter how correct it seems for a d20 website to have such a forum, no matter how many different things might be discussed in such a forum, if it hasn't been extensively talked about in the General Forum, it won't see action in it's own forum, either.

Edit: Also, Creative Mountain Games already has a forum for discussion of minis. It doesn't see much traffic now, but if a bunch of people who want to showup there and start talking about it, it might pep up right quick...

Nope, no reason for it. Just discuss it here, i'm sick of threads getting closed and shunted off to forums i'm too lazy to check. I don't think there's enough demand either, the poll is pretty close and don't foget all the users who aren't gonna vote because of apathy towards the topic. I almost passed it over myself.

I love miniatures! I have hoards and hoards of GW minis. I like painting collecting, playing miniatures.

But I don;t think this site needs a whole board for one. I'd use iether the general forum, or the Art Forum - if its about painting or showing off!

I think a new forum should be created only when there really is a problem with the posts taking over the general board. Like the Sci-fi thing.

Yes, it would be a good way to keep the threads around to look up latter if you need them.

I voted "yes". There are other places to discuss minis online (e.g. on Usenet), but most of the threads elsewhere centre on wargames and not so much on minis in RPGs. I, for one, would appreciate a forum dedicated to minis in D&D. I can even think of a few topics I'd like to discuss.

Interesting feedback. A lot of "I'm too lazy to read other boards, so I vote no", and "there's already not enough stuff on the General Forum!" (?!?!?!!!!).

Stuff on the General Forum stays on page 1 a few hours before vanishing to page 2. The minis threads I've seen on General IMO deserve somewhere to live where they'll stick around a bit longer.

An art forum is not the same as a minis forum.

I find it incredible that there are dedicated forums for eg general fantasy/sf discussion on EN World, but nothing for miniatures. I don't think the volume of posts should be the primary deciding factor.
Oh well.

Hi all!

I will reiterate my initial post in this thread - a point echoed by Umbran; hello mate!

Creative Mountain Games already has a Miniatures Forum. Surely it would be possible for ENWorld to have a direct link to it on the Forums front page!?

That way we kill three birds with one stone: we get a miniatures Forum here, it shouldn't tax Morrus too much, and Mark gets the increased traffic that his site deserves.

I have already emailed Mark about the idea (obviously it will be up to him and Russ) - I imagine we will hear something from him a little later?

I think a dedicated Miniatures Forum is a great idea and will present a very useful resource of information; links and photos - and even if the amount of posting is not 'overwhelming' it would still be worthwhile.

This is exactly why I would like to see a minis forum.
