MINIS! Where do you buy yours?

One of my FLGS: Mind Games, Dungeon of Magic or Alternate Worlds.

Thurbane, going by the names of the stores you have listed, might I assume you are from Melbourne?

If so, where abouts is Dungeon of Magic? Think I know where Mind Games and Alternate Worlds are located :)

Go home to Melb to visit the parents every now and then, and would like to visit the games stores down there. The city is getting pretty scarce for gaming material now a days with only Mind Games in town. ANy other suggestions on where I can visit?

thanks

Dungon of Magic is downstairs in Royal Arcade (off Bourke St Mall).

It's pretty good - they only deal in D&D and MtG products. They often sell D&D minis in sigles, and you can get commons at good prices. In general, though, their prices are a couple of dallars higher than Mind Games, but they often have sales - 10% to 15% of D&D stuff, for example.

Other than Alternate Worlds and four branches of Mind Games, I've not really found any other stores in Melbourne that stock Role Playing gear.

I'm currently located in Orange County, near Irvine.

I'm sad to say that it never once dawned on me to look for a hobby shop nearby.

Color me embarrassed.

Even if some of the stores near you are lacking, they might support clubs where trading is happening or might be a conduit to discovery some people selling off their collections locally. My own FLGS has twice-yearly auctions of all sorts of goodies from the local gaming population that would never show up online, ebay or otherwise. They also have a cork board for finding other gamers that sometimes has notices from people selling off their stuff for various reasons. Lots of possibilities. :)

Thurbane, thanks. Dungeon of Magic sounds like the old Dungeon, orginally a branch of the Games Parlour, which used to be in the arcade upstairs. Didn't think the place still existed. Last time I visited the Dungeon was when the guy who started and managed it left.....man that's going on 10 + years ago :)

What ever happened to Napoleons? I noticed that was closed when I went back last year.

Man, its getting almost as grim as Brisbane when it comes to RPG shops in Melb.

RGard: Sorry to clog up the thread with our business innuendo...but I just sent you an email at America Online dot Com. If you don't receive anything by tomorrow, let me know, as I haven't received an email from you yet.

I remember Napoleon's...not sure how long back they closed, though...

Miniature market for my DDM case as well as metal figs/paints. Free shipping on cases is also nice. Turnaround time from order to getting my figures is usually 3 days. Highly recommended. I almost never buy minis at my local store just because its such a colossal pain in the butt to find anything in their jumbled racks of figures.

For plastic singles I use auggies.

I purchase by the case from GameOutfitters.com, I have for the past several releases and then split the case with a buddy. I end up paying about $9.71 a box with shipping included.
