Long-time RPG-er seeks Dungeon Master and adventuring companions for daring exploits against loathsome monsters. Prefer no more than 2x/month, but can be flexible. Monday, Thursday, and Friday evenings are best, Saturday day/evening also possible. Bike/train/bus-able from South Minneapolis or the U a plus, but not a must.
I am definitely on the “colorful melodrama and a big special effects budget” end of the hobby – not a big fan of grim-n-gritty, excessive “realism”, win-at-all-costs tactical exercises, or slice-of-life play. Let me be a larger-than-life action hero, throw me some juicy scenery to chew, and give me memorable characters to build (no doubt messy) relationships with, and I’m as happy as can be.
Turn Ons
* Iconic Monsters & Memorable Villains
* Snappy Banter & Big Explosions
* Being Awesome, and helping everybody else be Awesome too
* Our Game (not The DM’s Game)
* Character Arcs
* Spirit of the rules, not letter of the rules, but rules matter
Turn Offs
* Hardcore optimization
* Bookkeeping & crunch
* Characters & Situations that never change
* Long stretches without conflict (not necessarily *combat*, but conflict)
* Playing “Guess What I Want You To Do” with the DM
* Lots of house rules, or rules that don't actually matter
