Miracle and Reincarnation

So, if a person dies, and is brought back by reincarnation, they can have their original form restored by a miracle.

But which version of miracle would this use? Would it be the normal version, or the very powerful request version, which costs 5000 xp?

Ultimately, I think it's a DM call. Personally, however, I think it should cost XP. Otherwise, reincarnate & miracle can effectively be used as a raise dead, with 4000gp less material cost.

I'd allow it to be the non-xp version. It is a use of miracle specifically listed in reincarnate, therefor I would not count it as an unusual request. Ultimately, xp is FAR more valuable than gp, and you are expending two spells, rather than one.

I'd say it's a non-xp use. Particularly if it is a racial deity; in a game I played my character was a dwarf who died and got reincarnated as an elf...I bet Moradin would have happily restored his his dwarven soul's original body. And Corellon Larethian would be even more eager, since Walvin's idea of being an elf was being a parody of elfishness as seen through dwarven eyes.

I like the idea of the racial deity affecting whether or not it costs XP. As most of the races are associated with a particular god in this homebrew, think I'll waive the xp cost if a cleric of the appropriate god is casting the miracle.

With some creativity, it could be seen as "Undo the harmful effects of certain spells, such as feeblemind or insanity." ;)

I agree with the non-xp use because:

Reincarnate said:
A wish or a miracle spell can restore a reincarnated character to his or her original form.

This, to me, makes it more like a "normal" use of Miracle rather than "a very powerful request."

However, this is clearly a judgement call for a DM.
