Mods/Admin...Short Time Sticky Post?

Sorry for the blanket post, but my e-mail is acting wonky right now.

Is there anyway to make a thread sticky for a short time (like a week or so). Many of those that have signed up for our MD-VA-DC Game Day on 10/2 are either new to the boards or infrequent users, so they have trouble chasing down the threads since they get buried so quickly.

Is there anyway to sticky it through 10/1?

PS - With so many "Game Days" Happening...maybe they need their own little forum !

Phil, we have a policy of not stickying GameDay threads. There's a couple of reasons for that:

- No one reads sticky threads. They get significantly fewer views than non-sticky threads.

- They are threads that by their very nature apply only to a small subset of the population. We try to only sticky threads that are generally applicable to lots of folks.

- If we sticky one game day, we're setting a precedent that we don't want to set.

In addition, we've considered having game day threads in the "Gamers Seeking Gamers" forum. If we did that, they would wither and die from lack of attention. I think it's far better to have them in General, even with the necessity of occasional bumping.

I'll make a pass-through and delete extraneous bumps, though, to clean up the thread a little.
