Momento Mori spell from ELH

Just for speculations sake, I figure a caster would need to be at least 41th level to cast this spell (with a good expectation of success.)

+10 for Epic Skill Focus
+2 for regular Skill Focus
+20 for some Magic Item of Spellcraft
+43 ranks in Spellcraft
+10 take 10 on the cast roll
-----------------------------------------
+86 Spellcraft
.

You didn't add any INT bonus in there... ;)

I didn't add any Int bonus because the Sorceror casting the spell has a 10 Int. Yeah thats it .... ;)

And ... uh ... when I think up a good excuse for the 41th thing, I will post that too. Yeah. ;)

Don't forget, you can't take 10 in combat...

Actually, unless certain documents have lied to me, you CAN take 10 on Spellcraft checks to cast Epic Spells. Perhaps that rule has changed, but I dunno yet. Get back to me in a few days.

I'm not sure these things (epic spells) are worth it. Sure they can do amazing things but you have to waste an epic feat, waste a descent amount aof resources just to get a high Spellcraft bonus, then spend a crap load of time, XP, and gold. I can see how it fits in the genre and many classical mages would have this type of power, but it really isn't for my characters.

As me and kreynolds discussed in another thread relating to Epic type spells and such, if you don't want to go the Epic Spell route, that is perfectly fine.

Instead, you can use your Epic Feats to take Improved Spellcasting (I believe that is the name, you know the feat that gives you 10th+ level spell slots.) Then metamagic the stuff out of your spells in order to fill those 10th+ level slots.

I think kreynolds summed it up pretty well. I don't have his quote saved so I will try to give you the gist of it.

If you want to make Gods fear you and cast awesome earth shaking spells, go the Epic Spells route.

If you want to master Metamagic and the magic of mortals, go with 10th+ level slots.

Those Energy Admixtured (Sonic) Maximized Double Empowered Meteor Swarms sure do hurt.

That is the truth. I've got a character who has Sorcerer magic so throwing of tons of spells is better then one or two epic powered spells. My guy has up to 14th level slots and bonus slots to them all (I went up to the level so I would have bonus slots in them). Combined with Epic Heightened spell and I'm going to have a happy NPC. :D

Somehow, I don't think Mystra, Azuth, and Savras would appreciate that. Remember, the gods of Faerun are actually pretty active there. :D
in response to the slaying of elmonster...

yah, but who cares..... the evil gods are pretty active too. It just gets into a god's favorite battle.....

hrm... see any problem there?
