Monk and Being Flanked/Flat Footed

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Monks can never be denied their dexterity bonus to AC because of their awareness of their surroundings. However, I can't seem to find where it exactly says that, if it even says it at all. If you could point me to a page, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks.

Monks don't get uncanny dodge, which is the ability you're thinking of. Various alt.monks ("martial artists") around the place, however, do....

[edit: Uncanny dodge means you don't lose your Dex bonus to AC if flat-footed or attacked by an invisible creature. You may, however, be thinking of the monk's _Wis_ bonus to AC. They don't lose that under any circumstances short of being immobilised, or unless they wear armour. See the PHB, p.39.]

Take two levels of shadowdancer for the flatfooted part of uncanny dodge. You don't want the level 20 benefit of monk anyways, it's a bigger limitation than bonus.
