Monks Flurry of blows + shuriken

Or precisely what we're saying - that you need to use a special monk weapon to flurry with. I don't understand how you could interpret it to mean the opposite.

If something says you "may" do it with certain weapons and never specifies any other situation in which you can do it, you may ONLY DO IT WITH THOSE WEAPONS. However, in the case of the monk, I believe it states you can also do it unarmed.

So - special weapons or unarmed only.

I have now read the description on flurry of blows (PHB 3.0 - page 39 - second printing: November 2000) over and over again. And I must say that I cannot interpret it to mean that I HAVE to use a special monk weapon OR unarmed (or a combination of the two...). I interpret it as if I may use any weapon I'm proficient with to get an extra attack "at the expence of accuray."

But hey, feel free to convince me by stating something else written or other interpretations (difficult word =P) on this matter...

Um, you're skipping some important paragraphs right above the Flurry of Blows section ...

"A monk fighting with a one-handed weapon can make an unarmed strike as an off-hand attack, but she suffers the standard penalties for two-weapon fighting ... Likewise, a monk with a weapon (other than a special monk weapon) in her off hand gets an extra attack with that weapon but suffers the usual penalties for two-weapon fighting and can't strike with a flurry of blows." (PHB 3.0 pg. 39)

But that refers to "weapon in off-hand"

... But anyways, I see now that the description for Flurry of Blows is typed in italic under the bold Unarmed strike...
Like this:

Unarmed Strike
....... blah, blah .....
flurry of blows
....... blah, blah .....

So now i interpret the flurry of blows like a sub-part of unarmed attack, hence: not eligible to use any proficient weapon. Just the special monk weapons (kama, nunchaku or siangham) :) thanks for clearing this out to me..
