Steel dragon was my favourite non-core. I ran a campaign around a steel dragon sage and the problems of it's past affecting the city it lived in.

The Steel/Oerth/Greyhawk dragon was always my favorite way above and beyond the core dragons

Merely for the petty reason that 6 limbed vertebrate creatures hurt my suspension of disbelief

But still confused about the amethyst dragon spitting a "lozenge" that explodes. "The red dragon belches fire and the amethyst dragon hacks up a cough drop?"

That attack always seemed suspiciously similar to a delayed blast fireball to me. But from now on, I shall forever think of it as the Cough Drop of Doom.

I love the gem dragon artwork in the 2nd Ed. AD&D Monster Manual. But still confused about the amethyst dragon spitting a "lozenge" that explodes. "The red dragon belches fire and the amethyst dragon hacks up a cough drop?"
