I was wondering if anyone could tell me if monster creation is in the book or will we have to wait til november to make up our own via the DMG.

Monster creation/advancement (with the exception of a few variants and templates) is in the DMG, I'm afraid.

That said, I've had really good luck re-skinning for my campaign. I haven't yet found anything I want to include that I can't create with some cosmetic changes and swapping out a few powers. :)

Yeah, I have no problem so far with what we have, the thing is I want to essentially create slivers as a monster and there isn't any monster I know of that can be reskinned and produce the same effects. I guess I'll just eyeball it and create them however best I can. In reality I just want to know how the hell hit HD work when creating a monster. I can't seem to find any pattern to it, I'm assuming they went with a 4e design philosophy where each monster falls into some sort of category like Brute, Leader, Caster etc etc

*nod*

I'm shaky on any sort of pattern, too. But I'm hoping when I finally see it in the DMG, it'll be something I can look at and go "Duh! Of course!" rather than something that requires a graphing calculator and a degree from MIT. ;)
