Monster Mash: Oni vs. Lord Sessadore

Oni

First Post
As the angel stirred from its stupor, the lich turned its pale eyes in that direction. Once more it tried to bore into the mind of the angel, forcing its will to submit. When the angel failed to comply, the undead's face twisted into a look of displeasure and then it vanished from the crow's nest to reappear next to the celestial. Bending down it viciously backhanded the angel.

Dare to defy me? the eladrin snarled.

The shadowy creatures followed the master's example, streaking toward the one remaining living creature seeking to snuff out the offensive lifeforce, passing their cold bodies over its form.

[sblock=covaithe]Remember Angelic Presence: attacks against the angel take a -2 penalty until he's bloodied.

Here's the plan: stand up, grab an oar out of the boat (it has oars in it, right?), and then smack someone with it. That would be a two-handed improvised weapon, doing 1d8 damage, correct?[/sblock]

Round 8, continued

The lich, unable to dominate the angel for the moment, teleports close and pimp slaps him instead.

The moon wraiths circle around and through the angel, but do only minor damage. (both miss. MW1 does 5 necrotic on a miss.)

[sblock=Sessadore]Yes and yes. Grabbing the oar is a minor action.[/sblock]

The angel, finally free of the lich's mental grasp, leaps up from the deck, grabbing an oar from the nearby boat. Bolts of lightning flash down from above, blasting the undead surrounding the angel as the flames covering it burn brighter and higher. Just after the lightning strikes, it swings the oar as though it were a deadly weapon, but the balance is off, causing the angel to miss its target.
[sblock=Actions]Move: Stand up.
Minor: grab an oar.
Standard: Lightning Strike (close burst 1): 25 vs. Lich Fort, 13 vs. MW1 Fort, 29 vs. MW2 Fort. 12 lightning damage, halved from weakness, is 6 damage. On a hit, target is dazed until the end of the angel's next turn.
Burn AP: Villain's Nightmare on Lich: 13 vs. Reflex, 12 damage (doesn't include CA if lich is dazed, not that it'll matter). Effect: until end of the encounter, if the angel is adjacent to the lich and the lich walks or runs, the angel can cancel that movement as an immediate interrupt.

Oh my word ... I just realized I've forgotten to include the angel's +2 on every save he's had to roll this encounter ... bah, I'm a moron.[/sblock]

The baelnorn recoils from the flash of lightning unsteadily, more damage seemingly done to his composure than to his person. It roared and lashed out with the back of its other hand, trying to catch the angel on the other cheek.

The wraith passed back and forth through the angel, pulling out bits and pieces of its life essence as they did. Their terrible howls grew more ravenous with each passing moment.

The angel continues to press the lich with its paddle in silence. The impossible odds push the celestial being to keep fighting as long as possible to keep its defeat from coming easily.
[sblock=Actions]Standard: Lion's Roar vs. Lich: 26 vs. AC, 12 damage. I forgot CA from lich being dazed, so it should be 28 vs. AC, and with weakness it's 6 damage.
Effect: the angel spends a surge, healing 38 hp.

Save vs. dazed: (1d20+2=20). Woot![/sblock]

First Post
The lich vanished, reappearing nearer the rear of the ship. From there it renewed it siege on the celestial beings mind, trying to dismantle its defenses. Taking advantage of the mental breech the dessicated eladrin blasted the opponent with brain searing radiance, trying to rip its sense of self to shreds.

Meanwhile the wraiths continued to swoop in and out, hungrily tearing the life essence from the angel.

Since I'm pretty certain that the Voice of Solemnity hit, I'll go ahead an post another round of actions to move things along a little faster. If not, I guess just disregard or alter for my next turn.

Like a shark sensing blood the lich continued its assualt, trying to grind his opponents mind into nothingness.
