Monstrous Regeneration & Favor of Ilmater (MoF)

As the title of the thread suggests, I happened upon this rather ridiculous combo. Favor of Ilmater makes you immune to subdual damage, and Monstrous Regeneration makes all damage except Fire/Acid subdual. Ripe for abuse. What about with persistent spell? How would you recommend dealing with these, or have you dealt with this combination in a game?

This question has come up a number of times before.

I wouldn't allow the effects to "stack." If you get hit with actual subdual damage, like from a sap, it's prevented. But if you get hit with a sword, MR converts it to subdual, and FoI does not prevent that damage.
