Monte's secret project confirmed

So happy people can talk about this book finally. I've had a copy of the draft for many months, and it was torture not being able to mention it (though I did try to give a hint in the interview Monte did here, by asking a question about a book on evil...he evaded, and Morrus picked up the ball and ran with it some more, and he evaded even more. Monte knows how to keep a secret). And before you ask, no, I'm not going to tell anyone anything about it until it has been released and is on the shelves (other than to say it is good).

Good? I wanted it to be EVIL! :)

Well no, they could write descriptions based on the old 1e stuff. But the not referencing anything since 1983 or so is on the mark. ;)
Ah... I get it. You're like those people who expect musical groups to keep rehashing the same stuff forever and accuse them of "selling out" if they alter or develop the formula even one iota. Check. ;)

So am I ignoring drugs and prostitution? No, not at all. These are bona fide sicknesses of society that aren't as easy to kill as a simple demon, and can make for challenging and interesting scenarios. Does that mean I want to pick up the d20 guide to unlawful carnal knowledge? Hell no. That kind of thing strikes me as antics of sexually frustrated teenagers (which is why I put "mature" in quotes.)

Hey! I resemble that remark. ;)

"Mature" comes in three stages.

1) There's the stage where you giggle and laugh and say"whoa, cool" at anything even vaguely sexually-oriented, in the same way that little kids giggle and laugh and say "whoa, cool" when someone sticks beans up their nose.

2) There's the stage where you've gotten over thinking sex is entertaining simply because it's "naughty" or "forbidden", and look arrogantly down your nose at the people in group 1.

3) There's the stage where you finally realize that even tho' sex isn't intrinsically funny or "cool", it's still an integral part of the human experience, and as such, it shouldn't be excluded from entertainment or humor simply because it makes some people uncomfortable.

Where are you? ;)

In short, there's nothing conceptually wrong with the Guide to Unlawful Carnal Knoweldge. Treated with wit and intelligence, adding a dash of sex to your campaign can be genuinely amusing, quite apart from any considerations of prurient appeal - if you're mature enough to handle it. :D

As a DM whose campaign is soon taking a "vile and depraved" turn, I look forward to this book very much. My baddies are already pretty slimey and reeeeaaally hated by the players. If this book can help elivate the evilness even more, so much the better! :)

maybe orcus is hanging out with asmodeus and anthraxus?

Nah no way Clark is hanging with Bill Gates and Salomn Rushdie. ;)

But I hope Monte isn't just teasing me...cause then I might JUST pass on MM2 for this one. :)

...

And just to clear up a point, I NEVER mentioned anything to do with Hollywood movies...
So stop mis quoting me and stick to the facts...

Lets all listen to your self rightseous hypocritical ramblings
You use these words... I do not think they mean what you think they mean. ;)

(Hint: "self-righteous" and "hypocritical" may be the universal comeback on the 'net, but that doesn't make them universally applicable. Be sure you can identify an actual hypocrisy before firing 'em off. :p )
