Not sure I understand the question. Both the Minotaur and Centaur are from Greek mythology. The minotaur got its name from Minos, King of Crete (who was its father).
Actually, the minotaur was the offspring of a sacrifical bull and the Queen of Crete. The refused to sacrifice the bull, so Zeus decided to teach him a lesson and got Aphrodite to make the Queen fall in love with it. Kinky, huh?

That sort of thing was popular with the greek gods. When you can direct your own porno flicks with anyone you want as the stars, I guess there's not a whole lot else you'd rather do. Or they'd rather do, at any rate.

Well, Minos was still its father (step-father, true). :p

I'd actually heard a couple of different versions of that growing up, but went with the one that (I thought) was most common. Hadn't heard this version in quite that way, but it's suitably wickedly Greek enough that I imagine it's probably more likely than my version.

I meant head of a horse, body of a man.

The Horsemen were known as Ipotanes and are described as having the legs, tails, and ears of a horse. They were the offspring of Selinus and thus are somtimes called the Selini

Selinus is a minor diety who was the teacher of Dionysus (and described as short, fat, thick lipped and usually drunk)

As to the OP

I'd be willing to include all ungulate footed, and horned humanoids as being related and it really isn't a stretch to consider Minotaurs, Satyrs, Ipotanes and antelope men as evolutionary offshoots of a single species.

if you need a base creature to evolve into a bipedal ungulate then check out Chalicotherium (related to Horses, Tapir and Rhinos) just give it horns and you have proto-minotaur

Laman Stahros' version is indeed the original but it often gets bowdlerised for kids. The versions you heard were most likely the family ones.

Thank you.

Pity there isn't any moose people with a moose's temperment.

Ibixians are basically goat-people. I thought I'd seen them statted up somewhere, though I can't think where. They do have minis, though.

MM III. They have an interesting ability where they fight better when there are other ibixians involved in a fight. At least, interesting for me as a GM.

Ok, so it's a god, but if they come out with a mini for it, you could make up some stats. Now you just need a flying squirrle race, which they have made before.
