Mordenkainen's Disjunction and ELH

The Souljourner

I could have sworn that I saw somewhere in the ELH that Mordenkainen's Disjunction should either be thrown out or seriously toned down. But now I can't find it. Am I crazy or am I just overlooking it?

Here's a little reasoning for you... Epic spells can go through dead magic zones, and yet, a 9th level spell can completely and automatically dispel them? And epic level magic items costing millions of GP can just be destroyed? It just doesn't make sense.

I can't cite anything, but I think there is a passage somewhere that basicly says treat any Epic Magical effects (items, spells, etc...) as artifacts for the purposes of Mord's Disjunction.

So that means percentile rolls all around, and not good ones at that.

That's true for the magic items, but what about the spells? Automatically dispelling all Epic spells in the area? Seems a bit over the top, especially given that epic spells can go through antimagic fields.

...epic spells do not occupy any privileged position allowing them to resist being dispelled other than thier presumably high caster level.
Epic spells are automatically dispelled by disjunction, just like every other spell effect.

Also, epic magic items are not artifacts, and can be disjoined normally.

It's a really good idea to eliminate disjunction, even before you hit epic level.

Damn. Now I have to try to convince my DM to take it out before we get screwed by it. Maybe if I can get the arcane casters of the group to start throwing it around everywhere.... problem is, NPCs don't care about magic items, and PCs do...

Yeah. It really redefines "not fun" when you lose 5 million gp worth of magic items in 6 seconds.

I recommend using the Ward seed to make you and the rest of your party immune to disjunction.
