More bad Press for D&D

First Post
Ok, this was an offhand comment on the Abrahms Report on MSNBC (which I generally like) - one of the guests was asked about his take on the strange symbols left on a brutal murder victim answered something along the lines of 'it may be related back to that 80s thing like Dungeons and Dragons' - I'm paraphrasing. It was just on. Wonderful what people think of our game. This commentator needs to get out of his basement and get a clue about D&D. I think it is a retired sheriff who said it.

Urgh.

Look at it this way:

The guy was saying essentially "there was weird mystical stuff, like D&D" not "D&D caused it."

True, but what's so weird and mystical about Dungeons & Dragons? I've been playing for 10 plus years and I still don't have any cool powers. By that reasoning, E. Gary Gygax and Dave Areson should be a frickin' dragon by now.

no, not Black Leaf!

Thanks to my faithful playing of D&D, I have gained the unspeakably mystical powers of turning expensive beer into urine, and turning a delicious steak and baked potato dinner into a pile of poo. Fear my mighty transmogrification powers! :)

Who's to say theyre not? BWAHAHA... haha... heh. :)

I watched the same show again tonight. They do a few viewer emails at the end of each show. Today, they read an email from someone who played D&D who had the same complaint I did. While they didn't comment on it, it was nice to at least get that voice out there. (And there was no other letter commenting on D&D).

And hey, more than three people watch MSNBC. I watch it all day with my wife and two month old baby, and I know we're not the only viewers. ;)
