More DM events! PLEASE!

while PoA can be entertaining, it tends to get a little repetitive at times.
One of the highlights is that occasionally the DMs will come on and add a little spice to the game by either creating a customized miniquest or as was the case last night, a cornucopia of badassed monsters hellbent on taking down a pair os seasoned fighters.

While I realize that the DMs have lives of their own (in theory anyway) and they too like to actually play characters in PoA, I was wondering if it would be possible to create "sanctioned" DM events... Events scheduled and announced on the ENworld boards.

That way, people can log in at the appropriate time to participate. Of course, they can be made level specific which of course will encourage players to have multiple characters of varying levels in order to be able to play in different levelled events.

what does everyone think of this idea?

Man those were some fun fights. Some may have over classed( 2 dracoliches at once  ) us but overall a good challenge. Looking at the various remains on the floor I was picturing the 2 of us surounded by an ankle deep pile of dead bodies.

Note to self next time this happens don't make comments on how easy a swarm was. Damned ethreal cutpurses. Fortunatley we never lost anything.

As too the idea I would love special events and having them posted in advance. I am finding with my current character that I am too weak to go to the underdark but getting bored of fighting the same things trying to build my self up. Lasts nights diversion was fun. DM events would be a great way of mixing things up.

I'm really digging my halfling char, but I had no idea how weak she was until finally running the Goblin Camp last night. Regardless of your spwans, she woulda had a rough go. Guess I need to season her a bit more, or wait for the rare 9th level party opportunity.

The few Goblin Spider Riders I spawned for you are weaker than the Worg Riders that spawn there and there were far fewer.. but I did notice you were struggling.

This sadly is more a failing of the module than anything as its very much about your equipment on PoA as opposed to level.
As much as Id prefer to see Legal Item level enforced..on PoA it just wouldnt work unfortunately because of the design.

With the right gear you can be wandering around Anduins Temple and the Catacombs from 5th with ease..which is a little bit worrying.

With regards to "scheduled" events I'd love to be able to do this but sadly the time I have available on any given day to plan, and run them is not so predictable as to allow me to post a notice of such a thing more than a few hours ahead of the event itself.
In addition setting up an event itself takes time and needs to be set to cater for those about, who generally vary a lot in level and equiment.
Then you also need to find a place to run the event in the mod that wont lead to it inadvertantly being the cause of mass death of enthusiastic people who fall outside the suitable level range or leading to the demise of clueless visitors checking out the server for the first time etc...
All in all its a lot of things to prepare and consider before one can be run effectively.

Where I can prepare and post a scheduled event though I shall do so, but the individual or party type quests/events run for those on the server at the time while im on as a DM and request them will likely remain the most common form of event for now. And there will of course be the non requested events such as the Tournaments, Treasure Hunts, Errands, Retrievals etc.. that get run all the time.

I'm walking aroud with a pile of gp, and haven't even broached the northern areas (the Mother-Load!), so it is annoying trying to keep this char legal. But I like her a lot, and want her to be able to return, eventually, to Chainmail [hopin' still], her home. So, for the time being, Silky will be weak.

It's not all the modules fault, though. Silky is a multiclassed Monk/Druid. She's got the best of both worlds, but is a 4th/5th class wunderkind in a 9th level body. Some of the weaknesses are ingrained. By the time she is 40th, look out, but for now, she will sashay along impaired...

At any rate, I kinda sussed to the fact that the Spider-Riders were special, and enjoyed that a lot. Silky got past them ok, it was the extra Worg spawns that got her off on the wrong foot. Had fun all the same, so thanks!

And that would explain a lot of my frustration with PoA. I thought my Rasheirin char was geared past his means, and kept his purchases within reason. No wonder he was just getting to knocking on the door of Anduin at [I think] 14th level. Maybe I'll go on a tear and gear him out sometime next week to wreak some vengeance on the Drow...

There were no extra Worg Spawns from me.. the worg riders that spawned did so when Edgar entered the area or left one or the other..but it was his level and presence in the area that spawned those im afraid.

Oh, he and I were both aware of that. Silky would have been killed ten times over if JesusMarley/Edgar hadn't stuck around to heal her when needed. Right proper sporting behavior on his part, and it was appreciated.

The only problem is that I have got to start playing him in character. Edgar is evil after all... healing a struggling monk/druid is way out of character for him. even if all the spawns were my fault.
Of course, if I played him in character, he still would have hung around, but only to laugh at you while you died. then he would have kicked you a couple of times for good measure.
Oh well, I guess you caught him on a good day. :)
