Movie "Druids" w/ Chris Lambert......

Keep trying. Its existence still remains part of my memory banks.

I first saw it as a poor bootleg dub from the overseas release. The terribleness of it still seeped through the static on the TV screen. Nevertheless, I rented it years later when it can out here in the States. "It couldn't have been that bad," I said. "Let me try it again." heh heh heh.

If 2 had existed, and if I had gone to see it in the theater and if my best friend had stood up in the middle of it and yelled "Planet Ziest? What's this crap?" and tried to leave but I had made him stay by saying that "surely it will get better", then I would of owed him a huge apology, because it never got any better. Good thing they never made a Highlander 2 or I would of really looked stupid for sitting through it waiting for the "good part" that never came.

Unfortunately the Renegade version of Highlander 2 isn't much better. There are no references to Zeist but there are so many plot holes that a Mac truck could make it through broadside. The most memorable thing to come out of Highlander 2 was the quote by Connery's character right before he died (again):

"Most people have a full measure of life and most people watch it slowly drip away... But if you can summon it all up in one place you can accomplish something glorious..."

Highlander 3 was a little better overall (more attractive girl in it) but not much better. All in all, the television series was by far more consistently enjoyable in terms of characters and writing. That goes for Highlander: The Raven also...

 No love for QUEEN?!?!

Yeah. Thats part of the reason I love it so.

Highlander's one of those movies that got made a decade or two too soon. Widen should've let the concepts roll over his pallette for a while, but I guess he wrote it as a project while still in film school so.. oh well.

I thought it was beautifully done. And then Widen did Prophecy which was another way-cool concept. Quite enjoyed the film too. Of course it's hard not to to like any film with Christopher Walken in it ;)

Highlander the Series had about the normal arc for a syndicated show.

Season One was rocky. Adrian Paul (sp?) didn't really know enough about how to use a sword, so the fight scenes looked kinda silly.

Season Two got more interesting and developed more of a storyline.

Season Three rocked. The finale was great. It would have been okay to end after season three. (Which ends with Duncan fighting a dude on the Eiffel Tower, and they actually USED the Eiffel Tower for the fight.)

The series should have ended after the first episode of season four, "Homeland", where he goes back to his homeland, makes his peace with that homeland by killing the immortal who killed his father, and does so not with a katana but with his family's ancestral sword. Good fight scene, great scenery, good flashback, and you get to see Duncan doing sword forms in front of an old castle while "Bonnie Portmore" plays in the background.

After that, Adrian Paul was so much better with a sword than the Immortal of the Week that the fights looked dumb. I wasn't a big fan of the last couple seasons.

But like I said, that's how most syndicated shows go.

I don't think Lambert is a bad actor. I do agree with him having a bad agent, though.

Anyway just for the heck of it, I decided to go to imdb.com and check out how Lambert's films stacked in their uer ratings. So, here's his films ranked best to worst (the number in parentheses is it's rating on a scale of 1 to 10):

(7.09) - Highlander (1986)
(6.95) - Gideon (1999)
(6.26) - Subway (1985)
(5.96) - Resurrection (1999/I)
(5.88) - Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984)
(5.57) - Knight Moves (1992)
(5.54) - Max & Jeremie (1992)
(5.38) - Nirvana (1997)
(5.32) - To Kill a Priest (1988)
(5.30) - Why Me? (1990)
(5.29) - Fortress (1993)
(5.20) - Loaded Weapon 1 (1993)
(5.19) - Hunted, The (1995)
(5.00) - Mortal Kombat (1995)
(4.92) - Hercule et Sherlock (1996)
(4.91) - Mean Guns (1997)
(4.84) - Arlette (1997)
(4.83) - Sicilian, The (1987)
(4.76) - Operation Splitsville (1999)
(4.65) - Gunmen (1994)
(4.63) - Tashunga (1995)
(4.58) - Absolon (2003)
(4.55) - Point Men, The (2001)
(4.54) - Fortress 2 (1999)
(4.51) - Highlander: Endgame (2000)
(4.35) - Road Killers, The (1994)
(3.75) - Beowulf (1999)
(3.73) - Highlander III: The Sorcerer (1994)
(3.65) - Adrenalin: Fear the Rush (1996)
(3.31) - Highlander II: The Quickening (1991)
(2.94) - Vercingétorix (2001)

Out of these, I've seen (ranked favorite to least) Mortal Kombat, Highlander, Greystoke, Beowulf, Highlander: Endgame, Mean Guns, Highlander 2, and Highlander 3.

Yeah, I actually kind of liked Beowulf. I'd like it much more if it didn't have that godawful soundtrack. I think the producers tried to cash in on Mortal Kombat with pseudo-techo music. It was just terrible.

I think I saw Gunmen and/or Point Men, but, if I did, I don't remember a thing.

And my dad has Adrenalin on tape (he got it for, I think $3). I may just have to borrow it just to see how it stacks up.

BTW, Vercingétorix is Druids. Yep, dead last.

Druids = Vercingétorix (2001).

According to IMDB users, his worst movie.

Yeah, I decided to look at the IMDB after I posted to check on that and edited my previous post just as you posted this (Literally! Look at the times). :)

It kind of threw me since I'm used to them listing the alternate titles. But they don't do that when you check the movies by rank, I guess.

31 movies and only a handful of them good (Gunmen got a 4.65? I thought it would be lower). He definatly needs a better agent, of course you can't say he isn't busy (31 movies in 19 years).
I agree, Greystoke was underrated. It was much better than a 5.88.
