Movie "Druids" w/ Chris Lambert......

(3.75) - Beowulf (1999)

Wretched movie. Oh the agony, it was horrific. I even tricked a friend into watching it after my pain so I could have one to share my misery.

It was the last Lambert movie I watched. There will be no more.

At some point, people, you gotta stop blaming his agent. His agent isn't in front of the camera.

And I always thought how funny it was that they dubbed over Andie MacDowell's voice in Greystoke, but we get the full unadulterated nasal high-pitched whining sound we know as Lambert's voice.

(Heh heh. I got to vent on how much I hate Christopher Lambert. My life's work is done.)

Other than that, yeah, Lambert movies pretty much suck. The Sicilian is particularly terrible.

Are you talking about the studio version of "Sicilian," or the director's cut? Because the director's cut is a decent movie -- not great, but worth seeing.

The movie's director, Michael Cimino, had a contract with the studio that said the movie had to be less than two hours in length. This was because of all the trouble with his "Heaven's Gate" (shooting overruns, cost overruns, longer than the studio wanted, died at theaters because of undeserved scathing reviews, but that's another topic for another thread :-) ).

Anyway, Cimino's version was close to two and a half hours. The studio said, "We aren't going to release this unless you trim it to less than two hours."

The studio wanted him to cut out some of the character development and story. So he cut out some action scenes instead, thinking the studio would never release it with the action scenes missing. They called his bluff and released it. It gave savaged by the critics, and did poorly at the box office.

The director's cut got good reviews and did decent box office in Europe, and many people who have seen it agree the director's cut is much better.

It's sort of like how the studio screwed up the American theater versio of Sergio Leone's "Once Upon a Time in America." The American release is a piece of crap. The director's version, which was released in Europe, is great. Many European critics pick it as one of the best movies ever made. American's who have seen both agree that the director's cut is much, much better.

So anyway, if you get the chance, check out the director's cut of "The Sicilian," it's better than the original version.

Well, I've seen a bunch of worse movies.

Druids for one.

I think it's quite sad that the-movie-whose-name-one-does-not-utter
ain't even close to being his worst movie.

Wait. nothing can be worse than (edited). It´s impossible.
Oh he's made some real stinkers, the "movie that doesn't exist" is not his worst. He has made some good movies (not many) though. It seems his best movies were his early works, the older he gets the more crap he puts out.

Yeah, and Highlander 3 and 4 stunk, too. Funny how they never made a number 2 - they just skipped right ahead to 3.

There is a #2. After seeing the horrible piece of crap #4, I was forced to come to the conclusion that #2 was the best of the sequals.

No. Not at all. Really. Skipped number 2. No number 2. Why would there be? It's a lie! No number 2.

I was under the illusion that there was one once, but I've been set straight.

There is no Highlander 2. There is no Highlander 2. There is no Highlander 2.

We (wife & I) saw Highlander 2, that stinking foul POS on opening night for a date...

Only film I ever told people in line to "GO BACK!!! Save your mind and time. GO BACK!!!"

After having just seen U.S.Seals I sadly have to disagree.

Edit: Wonder what I should do with the DVD so it doesn't destroy the world...maybe take it to the national guard and have them dump it in a pool of napalm. :)
