Movie quotes- broken record or inspiring

I generally find it it's a good quote from a not-necessarily god movie, and only if it's well-timed.

I tend to use Big Lebowski quotes a lot.

Personal feelings from me :) I dislike the over used common phrases or the blockbuster quotes. When I think of a movie I like to think of the movie not one phrase that doesn't even tell you about the movie.

I really like it when people use those more random ones, the ones that you have to think about or be with a very certain group that would have seen the movie to get :) Then it's just perfect, but I guess in part it's becuase they are not used frequently... anything done too much is overkill.

But there are just so many good quotes. To be honest, most movies have one good quote that tends to define it. One character that makes it happen and that one character is the guy who says it. Even movies that have sucked or werren't quite good tend to have that one good moment in em. How can you get sick of movie quotes when there are so many to use and so many left untapped? Expand your list by watching more i say. Even Buckaroo Banzai (a fan fave in it's time) has a few good one liners. Yeah Arnie has some nice ones but take the time to watch a few more and find more rare gems.

In the US, pop culture is the only culture we have.

Its not like we're all peppering our conversations with words from the Bard, or the Rubiyat, or the Bible/Torah/Q'uran/Vedas/etc. At least, we're not if we want to insure that the greatest number of people recognize what we're saying...

Like it or not, its our most shared heritage.

Besides, you can always quote from more obscure films... I'm partial to "Coltrane?! Did you just call me Coltrane?!"
