To be honest I wish I'd taped the Mortal Kombat TV series. Not that it was great by any means. In particular I thought the begining was weak. But it was interesting to see how the series developed.
They started focusing on three less than compelling heros. And at a certain point in the series they seemed to realize this and changed gears. They increased the number of girls in skimpy outfits and started to focus much more on how the villains were scheming against each other, with the heros caught up in that. Since the villains were much more interesting than the heros, it worked pretty well.
