multi class Divine Sanction?

Furthermore, the very fact that we can have a general conversation about divine sanction without any possessive term in front of it at all means that the game term is, in fact, simply "divine sanction".

We also refer to it as DS, Divine Challenge as DC, Lay on Hands as LoH, and opportunity attacks as OA. The game terms for these things are not DS, DC, LoH, or OA. They are handy abbreviations, and theoreticly aid in communicating. This is not relevant to discussing strict game rules and terminology, especially seeing as you've stated interpreting it as you suggest has acted as a barrier to communication.

Show me a power that does not say 'subject to your divine sanction.'

Even a single power that says 'subject to his/her/its/their divine sanction.'

You could speak of such a thing, and probably do, but the term that is defined is 'subject to your divine sanction'. Divine sanction is not defined. But being subject to your divine sanction is. And that is what is universally used.

What?!? Do you realize that the very section you reference has a TITLE which is the very term you claim is not defined?

...And that is what is universally used.

No, that's simply not true. The definition itself refutes your claims. As well as 2 examples in the feats.

Divine sanction is meant to complement divine challenge. You can use divine challenge to mark one creature and use divine sanction to mark others. Divine Sanction has fewer restrictions than divine challenge...

Divine Sanction (from Divine Power) is a new effect for some Paladin powers. My question is if my fighter takes multi class feats and takes a power like Valorous Smite, do I get to use the Divine Sanction effect?

Valorous Smite
Hit: 2[W] + Charisma modifier damage. Each enemy within 3 squares of you is subject to your divine sanction until the end of your next turn.

Divine Sanction
Many paladin powers subject a target to your divine sanction. Being subject to it means the target is marked by you as discribed by the power.
The marked target takes radiant damage equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier the first time each round it makes an attack that doesn’t include you as a target.

If my fighter used this, would the NPCs who are subjected to my divine saction be marked? Is that an 'attack'?

Divine Sanction is a mark( that is even stated in the post you quoted), so yes.

yea I must be on something. hehe

What about something like:
Channel Divinity: Solar Enemy Feat Power
Encounter • Divine
Minor Action Close burst 2
Target: Each enemy in burst
Each target gains vulnerable 5 radiant, or its vulnerability to radiant damage increases by 5.

Trying to find some way for my fighter to mark using divine powers... and still gives me a good chance to hit.

It just doesn't appear that Divine Sanction is a class feature of the Paladin. It appears that Divine Sanction is an effect created by the powers that reference it. Instead of writing up the entire Divine Sanction rules in every single power, they described Divine Sanction and what it does in it's own box. Then any power that subjects a target to the attacker's DS, they just need to reference the term DS. It's like powers that mark just simply say they mark without having to describe the effect in every single power that marks.

I would say that as long as you can use a power that marks using DS, it has the same effect. For example, a non-Paladin with the Eternal Seeker ED can choose a power that marks using DS and will do damage if the target does not attack the character using that power.

That feat/power wont work for fighter marking. You actually have to make an attack roll to mark with CC.

The reason Valorous Stike works is because you make an attack roll against the main target and apply Divine Sanction to all enemies within 3 squares of you. Since you make an attack roll against the target you can apply CC to that target. Also, since DS is a Mark all the enemies with 3 squares are marked by you.

That'd be any Strength based divine attack power in the game?

Okay, that's me not reading completely, he already knows that.

Alright.

Let's see....

Divine Channeler (Divine Strength), then take Call of Challenge as your utility swap power, which does -exactly- what you want. Oh and some Paladin powers as well.
