Munskins/Power gaming - Two weapon fighting feat with two bastard sword

You call that munchkinism? Boy, you ain't seen nothing yet! :p

Come back when he's a permanently expanded (two size categories) half-giant wielding two gargantuan mercurial greatswords via monkey grip and that other epic feat. :D

Yeah :) I really think these kind of behavior ruin the games for the other players...

And this much harder to be the dm with a group of munskins.

I call munshins every body who choice feats just for power and not because this fit the idea they have about their characters.

If we put aside the rules i just think almost physically impossible to handle two weapon of five feets at the same times.

Whoa, careful there... it has been proven that attempting to think rationally or realistically about D&D can cause uncontrollable flaming and/or bowel movements.

:D

hehehe maybe :) after all this a fantastic world, but i dont think this prevent the guy to cut his arm if he's using two sword of 5 feets :)

Maybe i should stop before my brain is over heating ehhehehe

Yes, IMO it would take one heck of a strong, dedicated warrior to wield two bastard swords at once, a real hero-type... hehehe

Of course, but this just very disapointing when you're building an interresting character who don't abuse the rules and then another character come in using two bastard sword just to kill more and i dont want to fall in the same patern and do the same thing.

At least our dm don't allow the other book so i wont see a guy with two greatsword with the held of monkey grip.

For a fighter this not a big deal to sacrifice one feat to do more damage.

So, what do you think about Weapon Specialization then?

It's also a feat, which only allows a fighter to deal more damage, nothing else. ;)

Just imagine a fighter with specialization (bastard), exotic (bastard), two weapon fighting and then he use two bastard !!! Outch, monster beware...

I wouldn't be worried in the slightest.

Just imagine a fighter with a greatsword and all those feats using Power Attack. ;)

Because the bastard have more weight and this harder to manipulate with one hand. You still can use it at two hand with no restriction.

I thought you meant this from a rules perspective. Ok, I can certainly see how one would require a higher base Strength to use the weapon properly as a house rule.

Well maybe i just worry too much about this, i just dont get why he have the same penalty with two longsword.

Of course he have to spend exotic weapon proficiency, but this give you the ability to use it at one hand only.

With two bastard sword this should have more penalty because this already very hard to use it at one hand.

Anyway i wanted to see if people have different opinion and this cool :)

A penalty of -4/-4 is a lot. It's really -5/-5, because it cose a feat; the feat could have been applied to, for example, weapon focus.

But even at -4, an attack that needs a "13" rolled to hit now requires a "17". That's roughly 4 numbers out of 20 that now miss and don't do any damage (13,14,15,16).

So each hit has a 4/20 or 1/5 chance to miss because of the penalty (roughly).

So your average damage goes down by 1/5 per round, so a swing that does 8 points of damage on average now does a little over 6.

Since the bastard sword only nets you about 1 extra damage point per hit, it's a net loss.

Seriously, he'd probably do more damage on average using 2 short swords at -1/-1 (after weapon focus). In fact, I'm sure of it.

It's just a style thing. Let him have his fun, and miss a lot of the time.

I guess you're right, in the long run he will miss alot, but this still dangerous to get a bastard sword in the back if you fight beside him hehhehehehe :)

He have 18 of str so this help him a lot to do it...
